Dear Stephanie Rice, NPRA Project Manager, Bureau of Land Management
Dear Stephanie Rice, NPRA Project Manager, Bureau of Land Management: Defenders of Wildlife is submitting the following 14,639 signatures to the Bureau of Land Management on behalf of each of these individuals who are communicating their sincere and strong support to maintain the current protections in place for wildlife in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska ("Reserve"). The Reserve contains exceptional wildlife habitat for imperiled species, including polar bears, ringed and bearded seals, and spectacled and Steller's eiders. The Teshekpuk Lake Special Area in particular is home to thousands of molting geese and hundreds of thousands of shorebirds, as well as polar bears, caribou and other wildlife. There are already over 11 million acres open to oil and gas development in the Reserve, and there is considerable development already occurring as planned. There is no need to revise the management plan for the Reserve at this time. Each one of the 14,639 individuals listed below urge you to retain or strengthen protections for Arctic wildlife in the Reserve. 1. Jean Roberts, WI 45. Carol Patton, CA 2. Juli Rule, MN 46.
