EMPLOYMENT

Instructor. Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science. . 2007-present.

QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Boonsoong has been studying the ecosystem ecology of freshwater ecosystems for many years. His work, which has included teaching and research has focused on the ecology of stream ecosystems. His technical skills and experience include freshwater ecosystem ecology, stream ecology, bioassessment, experimental design and analysis, and invertebrate zoology. He has conducted freshwater benthic macroinvertebrates taxonomy, especially mayflies (Ephemeroptera). He has conducted research projects on bioassessment and volunteer monitoring in streams around .

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND CURRENT RESEARCH AREAS

Rapid Biological Assessment Thailand currently lacks formal bioassessment approaches and protocols to assist management decisions for water quality. Dr. Boonsoong has been among the first stream ecosystem ecologists to be involved the study of rapid bioassessment of Thai streams with benthic macroinvertebrates. He developed a practical method of rapid bioassessment for a professional level by using benthic macroinvertebrate assemblages for streams in Thailand. The biological research was designed around the USEPA Rapid Bioassessment Protocols (RBPs).

Ephemeroptera Research Dr. Boonsoong has more than 5 years experience in the study of mayflies taxonomy in streams. He focused on the family Heptageniidae.

Aquatic Toxicology Dr. Boonsoong has conducted toxicity of botanical insecticides, herbicides, and insecticides on non-target aquatic invertebrates.

Statistical Design and Analysis Dr. Boonsoong has experience in both univariate and multivariate statistical analyses, including both parametric and non-parametric approaches. He used multivariate to investigate the complex interactive effects of land use on stream chemistry and macroinvertebrate communities.

Teaching Dr. Boonsoong teaches undergraduate course on general zoology, invertebrate zoology, ecology, and pollution biology. He also teaches graduate courses on the statistical analysis of ecological data, stream ecology, and bioassessment.
