Patareide ehituseks ja edaspidiseks teenindamiseks rajati Lehtma sadamast kitsarööpmeline 750 mm rööpmelaiusega raudtee Tahkuna patareini nr. 39 pikkusega umbkaudu 6 km. Raudeeharu suundus ka Lehtma patareini nr. 38. Esimese maailma sõja ajal oli raudtee kindlasti kasutusel, sest patareid olid valmis sakslastega lahingut pidama ja väidetavalt on neist ka mõned lasud tehtud. Raudteel oli kaks saksa päritolu vedurid ja seni teadmata hulk vaguneid ja vagonette.
