How Tokyo's Subways Inspired the Paris
Feature Evolution of Urban Railways How Tokyo’s Subways Inspired the Paris RER (Interconnection with SNCF Suburban Lines) Louis Sato and Philippe Essig Introduction Original Master Plan in 1965 for RER A and Sceaux Line Extended to Châtelet (Les Halles) Station Each time a new idea prevails, the initial Cergy Pontoise Valmondois difficulties are forgotten fairly quickly. In (Second north–south axis) le Bourget Montesson (First north–south axis) town planning and transportation, it is always difficult to design and execute a Saint-Germain RER A project that alters long-established la Defense practices. However, during the last 30 Etoile Auber Châtelet Fontenay years, many metropolises worldwide Bry-sur-Marne Nation RER A Luxembourg Noisy-le-Grand have seen revolutions in the fields of Gare de Lagny Meaux transportation and urban traffic. (First north–south axis) Boissy St-Leger Paris Urban Network (Sceaux Line) in Early 70s In 1970, the Paris urban railway network was based on principles dating back to the 1972 New RER Concept turn of the century when the Paris metro was built. Commuter trains of French Ville Nouvelle National Railways (SNCF) terminated de Cergy Pontoise at the Paris stations of Saint-Lazare, Orry-la-Ville Aeroport Montparnasse, Austerlitz, Lyon, Est and Roissy CDG Nord and there was no line crossing Paris. The same situation applied to the Régie RER D Mitry-Claye Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) Sceaux commuter line serving the southern suburbs, which stopped at Luxembourg RER B Poissy RER A Station. -

Paris Descartes University (Paris V) Placement Report
Paris Descartes University (Paris V) Placement Report January 2014 – May 2014 - 1 - WHY I CHOSE TO STUDY ON THE EUROPEAN STUDIES PROGRAMME For me, the option to enrol on the European Studies programme was one of the main attractions of studying Medicine at Manchester above any other university in the United Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of learning languages and having studied both German and French at GCSE level, I opted to pursue my French studies further and completed an A level. I thought it would be a shame to not further develop my language skills at this point, having studied French for a number of years and I was keen to attain a good level of fluency. I felt that studying Medicine with European studies (French) would provide the ideal solution as it would allow me to combine my love of learning languages whilst also fulfilling my ambition of becoming a doctor. In addition, the opportunity to undertake SSC placements abroad in 3rd and 4th year, as well as a 16-week placement in final year, was also appealing and I knew this would provide a perfect chance for me to hone my language skills and acquire a good level. My A-level tuition stood me in good stead for starting the language lessons in 1st year as we had been stretched beyond the A level syllabus and I found the lessons in the first few years to be fairly simple and easy to attend as they were timetabled during the day amidst our medical teaching schedule. However, keeping up with french lessons and completing required assignments during clinical years required more organisation and self- motivation. -

LST Awarded Renovation Contract for Paris Montmartre Funicular
Sainte Hélène du Lac (Savoie, France), 22 February 2016 (after market close) MND: LST awarded renovation contract for Paris Montmartre funicular The MND Group (FR0011584549, MND), an innovative developer of mountain and urban mobility solutions, is listed on the Paris Euronext regulated market, compartment C. MND today announces that its subsidiary LST, a cable transport specialist and reputed ropeway designer and constructor, has been awarded the contract to renovate the Montmartre funicular railway by Paris public transport operator RATP. For LST, this is a major icon in the world of urban cable transport, as the funicular is the busiest in the world, carrying around four million passengers a year. The three-year contract covers the complete overhaul of the two machineries of the funicular lines and major inspections of the two cars. One of the many challenges involved in this highly technical renovation operation is to ensure continuous service during the work, which will be fit into a very narrow time frame between the end of the Montmartre harvest festival in October and the start of the Christmas holidays. The project therefore requires tight planning of on-site operations. Roland Didier, MND’s Deputy General Manager, made the following comments: “We are particularly proud to have won this iconic contract thanks to the efficient technical solution we were able to offer. It will strengthen our positioning in the urban cable transport sector, a hive of opportunities for which MND Group has renewed its product range and developed its innovative CABLINE system. Gaining the trust of a particularly demanding operator like RATP for a major line in its network proves that MND is regarded as a key player in the booming environment-friendly transport market, and brings us closer to our targets." 1 Find all the information you need on www.mnd-bourse.com About MND Group: The MND Group has been based at Sainte Hélène du Lac (Savoie), in the very heart of the French Alps, since 2004. -

Press Release
PRESS RELEASE Nantes, June 15th 2021. NEOLINE confirms the choice of NEOPOLIA Mobility and signs a LOI for the construction of its first 136m sailing cargo ship following a new international tender. The project is now in the financial closure phase with the objective of starting construction this Summer, aiming for a commissioning in the first half of 2024. NEOLINE's decision to select the offer of the Loire-based company Neopolia Mobility, for the construction of its first sailing cargo ship, is motivated by a qualitative proposal from Neopolia, which was the most adjusted to the shipowner's needs. This decision comes at the end of a second international call for tenders launched at the end of 2020 by NEOLINE with about ten international shipyards. This choice was made possible by the strong mobilization of the shipyard in the Loire Valley, the members of the Neopolia network as well as the active participation of the Pays de la Loire Region and regional and national institutions. • NEOLINE is developing a responsible maritime transport offer based on the operation of ro-ro cargo ships with a main velic propulsion system, allowing a saving of 80% to 90% of the consumption and associated emissions compared to a conventional ship of the same size. • Neopolia Mobility is a company born from the Neopolia network, which aims to federate and make 240 companies work together, mainly in the Pays de la Loire region, on innovative industrial projects in order to guarantee a balanced development of the territory. Together, let’s build the future of maritime transport.
