In his tenth World Championship finale in a row, the defending rallycross World Champion missed yet another podium finish by 0.4 seconds. In the overall standings, the Swede still holds second behind compatriot Johan Kristoffersson. In the teams’ classification EKS is third at the half-way stage of the season. Ekström made a flying start around the rollercoaster track in Norway. Despite torrential rain, the Swede coped the best with the slippery track at the wheel of his Audi S1 EKS RX quattro, and led the overall classification after the first day. “I was a little surprised that we were so fast in the wet, but that was quattro weather,” joked Ekström after the final. “In the dry conditions on Sunday, we struggled again to match the pace of the competition. In the final we lost crucial ground right at the start. This was our own mistake and this ultimately cost us the podium finish.” Although Ekström leaves Norway without a trophy, he still scored 23 important points for the overall standings. After six of twelve rounds, the World Champion is eight points behind the leading VW driver Johan Kristoffersson.

Yep, it’s official our banner above says summer so there is no excuse. With the ever-changing landscape that is covid I’m a bit cautious about the content of this introduction but hopefully we are heading in the right direction and with the return of ‘trainees’ (perhaps soon a grading name consigned to history…) and ‘taster days’ it’s beginning to feel a little more normal. On that point, taster days are an important tool for our recruitment teams and feedback from some attendees at the recent Brands Hatch Speedfest meeting (the first for a long while…) was highly positive, as can be seen from the following comments: “I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the contribution from the post crew were invaluable to making the day enjoyable and learning about the different roles / responsibilities. I’d definitely like to volunteer for more events and will join the BMMC”… “Great day! Give me more! Guys were great! Good fun, yes, give me some more! Good instructions and guidance”… “Thank you so much for yesterday, I haven't stopped smiling since getting home. Everyone on post 6 were just absolutely amazing! I can't fault anything! Ford Olsbergs MSE driver Reinis Nitiss is second and Britain´s Liam Doran third inhis SDRX Citroen DS3. Doran was leading the World RX crews overnight after his heat two win but his team-mate Solberg clawed to the top of the Intermediate Classification by winning heats three and four. Round one winner Johan Kristoffersson iscurrently fourth despite losing time with two punctures in heat two and an impact with Team Peugeot-Hansen´s Davy Jeanney in today´s closing race. “It´s been a fantastic day for us with two heat wins, a track record and 16 World Championship points,“ grinned Solberg, who put on a fantastic show for the thousands of fans who watched the thrilling RX action at the famed Sachs Arena inside the F1 venue. “It didn´t get off to the best start for us yesterday but then everything has been getting better and better. I think we put on a good show for the DTM fans too, they love the rallycross action and have been saying how exciting the racing is!“ Wildcard entrant Tanner Foust is currently fifth after the American Top Gear presenter set two top five heat times, while Team Peugeot- Hansen´s Davy Jeanney is sixth in the Peugeot 208 WRX Supercar.

While Foust took the win at his home track, Speed secured the Driver’s Championship following a second-place finish in the Final. After qualifying second on Friday, Speed battled to second- and third-place finishes in early Heat races on Saturday, but won his Semifinal, putting him into a good starting position for the Final.     Dubbla finalplatser i rallycross-VM för Volkswagen Team Sweden – Rustad överlägsen i EM Volkswagen Team Sweden fick med båda sina förare i final när årets femte deltävling i rallycross-VM avgjordes i Tyskland. Johan Kristoffersson slutade fyra och slog vakt om sin andraplats i VM-tabellen. Tord Linnerud blev sjätte man i sin första VM-final. I Marklund Motorsport missade båda VM-förarna semifinal. Desto bättre gick det för Tommy Rustad som vann EM i Supercar överlägset. VM- och EM-deltävlingen på Estering i norra Tyskland bjöd på ett blandat resultat för de svenska Volkswagenteamen. I VM lyckades Volkswagen Team Sweden bäst. Johan Kristoffersson och Tord Linnerud var stabila i kvalomgångarna där norrmannen var bäst en fjärdeplats totalt, placeringen före Kristoffersson. I semifinalerna fortsatte framgångarna. I den första vare Kristoffersson tvåa bakom fransmannen Davy Jeanney och i den andra nådde Linnerud samma placering – slagen endast av Petter Solberg. I finalen delade VW-förarna andra startled. Kristoffersson var snabbast av startplattan och var trea ut ur den första, tuffa kurvan. Linnerud var fyra, men tappade till sjätte plats över de sex varven. Kristoffersson fick nöja sig med fjärde plats sedan han blivit passerad av såväl Petter Solberg som Timmy Hansen när han tog alternativspåret på det sista varvet. – Rent spontant så här direkt efter finalen är jag rätt nöjd. Visst hade det varit roligt med en pallplats, men på en så chansartad bana som den här, där det studsar bilar åt alla håll och kantar, får man vara nöjd med att ta sig till final. Väl där var det inte lätt från andra startspår.

    News release 20.09.15 Petter’s best in Barcelona Norwegian superstar Petter Solberg celebrated victory at the maiden World RX of Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today (Sunday). Petter’s no stranger to winning, but it’s been a pretty lean summer in terms of time on the top step for the two-time FIA World Champion. Which is why he was so pleased to land a first victory since World RX of Great Britain at Lydden Hill in May. That and the fact he didn’t let his son Oliver down… Solberg, who is 35 points clear at the top of the World RX table with three rounds remaining this season, said: “We have fought hard for this win the whole weekend. We’ve run a lot of different set-ups on the car – we had to really work at it to catch Peugeot. All the time, the 208 was taking tenths of seconds, but eventually the brilliant PSRX engineers worked it out. “My son won a crosskart race in Sweden today; I got the message by telephone and he was joking and being quite confident and cocky in telling me I couldn’t let the family down – I actually really felt the pressure from that! “In the end, I could call him back and be quite cocky back with him. I liked that! “Everything was going quite well from the start, but in the third heat, I touched the wall on the left side – there was loads of dust in the car and I really couldn’t see so well.
