Tips on how to help your student deal with application stress/anxiety: ○College admissions essays are important! ➢ Have them start early ○Be open and honest about college possibilities

➢ Be realistic and informed ➢ Know limitations (financial, geographic, etc.) ○Some parts are beyond anyone’s control ○Make sure your student is staying healthy and getting adequate sleep ○What can you do if you have a concern about your student or another student? Call us. We cannot help if we are unaware. SENIOR YEAR REMINDERS

○ Remind your student to keep taking a rigorous yet doable schedule. Community College recommends four years of Math and college prep English when possible. ○ Do not allow Senioritis to set in ○ Remind your student to establish an appropriate email and to check regularly so that they do not miss deadlines. ○ Remind your students to do their research. Make sure they know what the colleges are looking for, and when the deadlines are. ○ Visit campuses when possible. Students get a good sense of whether or not a school is a good fit just by walking around the campus and talking to students. ○ Emphasize the importance of Teacher Advisement especially during Senior Year. A lot of important information is distributed during this year and you do not want them to miss out on hearing the information. ○ Stress the importance of attending the workshops. Many questions are answered during this time. When we bring representatives in, the person presenting, may be the person reviewing your students application! REMIND 101 Follow IHS Counseling!
