Daniel 12:11-12 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

XXVII. The Revelation of Jesus Christ. Matthew 24:29-30 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

M. Kober: “Two passages reveal details about the marvelous changes on earth at the return of Christ. Both Zechariah 14 and Ezekiel 47 make reference to a new river in Israel with supernatural properties. The passages afford us a glimpse of the changes world- wide as the curse is lifted from nature and the whole world will become like Eden. The delightful predictions by Zechariah and Ezekiel serve as a microcosm, as the whole world is freed from the curse of sin and will enjoy rejuvenation and fruition.”

Isaiah 35:6 6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

Isaiah 51:3-4 3 For shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. 4 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

A. The return of the Lord. • At the second advent, Christ and the heavenly host (Revelation 19:11-14) will descend to the Mt. of Olives to rescue Jerusalem from the Gentile armies who have conquered the city. Zechariah 12:2-3 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. Page 2 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. 1. The conquest of Jerusalem. Zechariah 14:1-2 1 Behold, cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

2. The coming of the Lord. Zechariah 14:3-4a 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the , which is before Jerusalem on the east,…

3. The cleavage of the Mt. of Olives. Zechariah 14:4b-5 4b …and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto : yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the with thee. • The Antichrist and false prophet along with the armies of the world make their way 90 miles to the Jezreel Valley to prepare for the mother of all battles, the battle of Armageddon.

4. The changes in Jerusalem. a. The mountainous region around Jerusalem will be elevated and turned into a plain. Zechariah 14:10 10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses. b. Christ will build His Temple on the now elevated and enlarged Temple Mount. Zechariah 6:12-13 12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: Page 3 13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

c. The holy city will be the seat of government. Micah 4:1-2; :2-3 1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of ; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

5. The battle of Armageddon. a. The armies are now gathered in the “valley of the mountains”, the Jezreel Valley. The Jezreel Valley is approximately 1000 square miles. (14 miles wide and some 67 miles long and situated among the mountains) To the west is Mt. Carmel, to the north is mountains of Nazareth, to the east is Mt. Moreh, Mt. Tabor and others, and to the south toward Jerusalem are mountains of Samaria. Revelation 16:16 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

b. The Battle. Christ makes His way to the Jezreel Valley, speaks a word and the battle is done. Revelation 19:15-16 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 14:19-20 19 And the thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

6. Then Christ goes to Bozrah and where the Jews have been protected for 3½ years. Most believe this is speaking of the city of .

Page 4 :1-4 1Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

7. Christ returns with the remnant Jews to Jerusalem and enters the temple through the East Gate. Ezekiel 43:1-2, 4-5 1Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: 2 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory. 4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. 5 So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.

a. Christ will then sit on His throne and judgments will begin. Ezekiel 43:4, 7 4 And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. 7 And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

Matthew 25:31 31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
