THE resistance of Hungary to Austria and Russia was broken. Kossuth and Szemere and their partisans saved themselves, like the Poles, on a neutral territory. I rejected flight; and the majority of the unfortunate combatants for Hungary against New Austria followed my example. Hereupon I was pardoned, and meanwhile banished to Carinthia. The decision on the fate of my compa- nions, however, was left to the Master of the Ordnance, Baron Haynau. The striking contradiction between my pardon and the subsequent executions might have induced the rela- tives of some of those who were awaiting the decision of their case to suppose that it would be possible for me, by some means, to save these unfortunate men; for, immediately after the first executions at Arad and Pesth, I was requested by letters from various quarters to exert my presumed influence with the government of Austria in favour of one or other of the politically compromised persons who had come into the power of Baron Haynau. The failure of these applications needs scarcely to be mentioned. I had positively no influence at all to exert. I had, on the contrary, to perceive that it was my duty to suppress even the anxious cry for pardon, so long as Baron Haynau remained the absolute master VI of life and death to my companions in war. My inter- cession could but kindle still higher the pious zeal of the Baron.

No. 1. pp. 3— 114 GEOTHERMAL CONDITIONS OF HUNGARY Péter DÖVÉNYI*, Ferenc HORVÁTH*, Pál LIEBE**, János GÁLFI**, Imre ERKI* A brief review is given of the history of geothermal investigations in Hungary followed by a summary of the methods of temperature measurement, their reliability and applicability. All available and valuable temperature data are qualified on the basis of conditions and probable accuracy of measurements and are listed in a temperature catalogue. A map of geoisotherms at 1 km depth on a scale of 1 : 1,000,000 and another at 2 km depth (scale 1 : 2,500,000) are constructed for Hungary and adjoining territories. In addition, average temperature vs. depth profiles are presented for different sub-units of the Pannonian basin. All Hungarian measurements are used to obtain the average thermal conductivities of Neo­ gene sedimentary rocks and of basement rocks. Hungarian heat flow determinations are reviewed and three new heat flow data are also presented. A method is proposed for estimating the heat flow value for boreholes where no actual thermal conductivity measurements were performed but the temperature conditions and the lithology are well known. The heat flow map of the Pannonian basin has been prepared by the use of measured and estimated heat flow data. The Pannonian basin is characterized by high temperature and heat flow values with signifi­ cant spatial variations. An estimate is made of the temperature disturbance caused by regional water circulation systems. The conclusion is reached that if the influence of water convection is corrected, high undisturbed (purely conductive) temperature and heat flow values are obtained for the Mesozoic carbonate complex of the Transdanubian Central Range.

Ez az osztály volt - a magyar nemesség. Ma már megszűntek kiváltságai, mert a haladó kor szellemétől, a szabadságszeretettől áthatva, önmaga mondott le róluk, de nem szűnt meg a kegyelet, melylyel az elődök iránt a hálás utókor viseltetik. S ez nem is fog megszűnni soha, mert a magyar embernek legsajátosabb erénye nem annyira a párját ritkító - vendégszeretet az élők iránt, mint inkább a legmélységesebb, legbensőbb - kegyelet a halottak iránt. Emlékezzünk régiekről! E sokat szenvedett nemzetnek mindig volt elég oka reá, hogy a mult emlékeit híven ápolgassa, annál több oka lehet reá válságos időben, a balsors csapásai közepette. Emlékezzünk tehát a régi nemes családokról, mert ezek eredetét, szereplését kutatni annyit tesz, mint a nemzet történelmi multjával foglalkozni. Hiszen ezeréves fennállásunk minden mozzanatában ők - ezen családok kimagasló alakjai - voltak a vezérlő tényezők, a ki tehát ezek valamelyikében saját vérbeli ősét ismeri fel, jogos hazafiui büszkeséggel idézheti fel emlékét. Nekik szentelem én is e szerény könyvet, mely a hivatásbeli kötelesség teljesítésének jegyében lát napvilágot s mely - a rendelkezésemre állott egyéb kútfőkön kivűl - a vármegyei levéltár családtörténeti anyagát teljesen felöleli.

It aims to guarantee the effective and lasting preservation and protection of Jewish cemeteries and mass graves throughout the European continent. Identified by the Hebrew phrase Lo Tishkach (‘do not forget’), the Foundation is establishing a comprehensive publicly-accessible database of all Jewish burial grounds in Europe, currently featuring details on over 9,000 Jewish cemeteries and mass graves. Lo Tishkach is also producing a compendium of the different national and international laws and practices affecting these sites, to be used as a starting point to advocate for the better protection and preservation of Europe’s Jewish heritage. A key aim of the project is to engage young Europeans, bringing Europe’s history alive, encouraging reflection on the values that are important for responsible citizenship and mutual respect, giving a valuable insight into Jewish culture and mobilising young people to care for our common heritage. A Heves Megyei Önkormányzat az Emberi Erőforrás Fejlesztési Operatív Program keretében megvalósuló „Megyei szintű felzárkózás-politikai együttműködések támogatása a helyi esélyegyenlőségi programokhoz kapcsolódóan” című konstrukcióhoz EFOP-1.6.3-17-2017- 00019 kódszámon „Felzárkózás-politikai együttműködési program megvalósítása Heves megyében” elnevezéssel pályázatot nyújtott be, mely pozitív támogatói döntést nyert és a megvalósítás 3 évére összesen 60 millió Ft összegű, 100 %-os támogatás intenzitású, vissza nem térítendő támogatásban részesült. A projekt megvalósulási időszaka 2018 – 2020 évek. A felzárkózás-politikai együttműködési projekt 6 célcsoportja a mélyszegénységben élők, a romák, a gyermekek, a nők, az idősek és a fogyatékkal élők. A felhívás alapvető célja megyei szintű koordinációs és konzultációs rendszer kialakítása annak érdekében, hogy a felzárkózás-politikai együttműködések ne csak országosan és helyi, esetlegesen járási-, hanem a közigazgatás következő szintjén, a megyei szinten is kialakuljanak, rendszeressé váljanak, és esélyteremtő módon hassanak vissza az egyes települések lakosságának életére, növelve a szolgáltatásokhoz való egyenlő esélyű hozzáférést. A projekt keretében két dokumentum készül el: a Szolgáltatási Út Térkép és a Megyei Esélyteremtő Paktum. A Szolgáltatási Út Térkép (SzÚT) pályázati felhívásban szereplő leírása: „A Megyei Felzárkózási Fórumok üléseinek kimeneteként létrehozásra kerülnek a szolgáltatási út térképek, melyek célja a megyében meglévő szolgáltatások lakossághoz való elérésének vizsgálata, különös tekintettel a helyi szinten hiányzó szolgáltatásokra (pl. a HEP- ekben beazonosított szolgáltatás hiányok alapján), és annak megoldási javaslataira (ld. A 19 település az alábbi: Aldebr ő, Beseny őtelek, Dormánd, Egerfarmos, Feldebr ő, Füzesabony, Kál, Kápolna, Kompolt, Mez őszemere, Mez őtárkány, Nagyút, Poroszló, Sarud, Szihalom, Tarnaszentmária, Tófalu, Újl őrincfalva és Verpelét.” A kistérségek jellemz ői Heves megyében A Kormány a 244/2003. (XII. 18.) rendeletével új területfejlesztési-statisztikai kistérségi rendszert hozott létre, amely módosította a kistérségek 1997. augusztus 1. óta életben lév ő lehatárolását. Az új kistérségek besorolása 2004. január 1-jét ől lépett életbe. A módosítás a megye 119 településéb ől 19-et érintett. A legnagyobb változást az jelentette, hogy létrejött egy 13 településb ől álló új kistérség Bélapátfalva központtal. A 13 község közül 3 az egri, 10 a pétervásárai kistérségb ől vált ki.
