Team Stenmark vs Team Krizaj… SKISTAR INVITATIONAL WHEN: Saturday 17th at 19.30 WHERE: Stjärnbacken, Åre (10 minute walk from downtown Åre) WHAT: The greatest alpine skilegends bringing it on to support Active Life Foundation On the night of Saturday the 17th, at 19.30, a nostalgic event is taking place in Åre. 10 of the world’s most famous alpine skiers will take on a challenge from a Nordic team led by the great Ingemar Stenmark. The international team is represented by 8 different nations and led by Bojan Krizaj, Slovenia. In total, the two teams has collected 583 World Cup medals, 34 World Championship medals and 16 Olympic medals The format is parallellgigantslalom and the event is broadcasted live on Eurosport all over Europe. In a two run challenge the racers will try to collect points to their team. The race is FREE to watch and all the benefits from the race go directly to Active Life Foundation. A fund, created by Thomas Fogdö, which help injured athletes to get back into an active life. Sponsors have already signed up to support the race and the foundation and during the race their will be a possibility to contribute thru phone messages. POLAR is also giving away a Caravan for auction. PREVIEW 2019 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - 5-17 Feb World Championships return to Sweden • Åre will host the World Championships for the third time after 1954 and 2007. • Austria is the most successful country at the World Championships with 95 gold medals, 99 silver, and 92 bronze medals (286 total medals). Switzerland is next on 191 medals - 64 gold, 68 silver, and 59 bronze. • Austria have collected at least one medal at 41 of the previous 44 world championships. The only exceptions are 1934, 1938 and 1939. • Austria (149) is one medal shy of winning its 150th medal in men's events. Norway (47) needs three more medals to reach 50 medals in men's events. • Sweden won its most gold (3) and its most total medals (7) in 2007, the last time the World Championships were held in Sweden (also Åre). • Sweden's last world title came at the World Championships in 2007, when Anja Pärson won the ladies' super-G, downhill, and alpine combined. • Pärson (7 gold) is one of four Swedish world champions alongside Ingemar Stenmark (5), Pernilla Wiberg (4) and Jonas Nilsson (1). Alcott: 12th in Bad Kleinkirchheim The British Land Alpine Ski Team's Chemmy Alcott buried the disappointment of a relatively poor downhill showing yesterday in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria when she skied to an impressive 12th place in today's World Cup Women's Super G. Racing first down the course Alcott, (23, Twickenham/The British Land Alpine Ski Team) set aside any nervousness about being the first woman ever to ski Super G on the resort's Franz Klammer Weltcup Abfahrt piste, and set a time of 1 minute 10.35 seconds. Her run set her up in the top three until several of the Women's Super G big guns attacked it, but 12th - the second best ever British Women's Super G result after her own 11th in Lake Louise in late 2003 - is her best result of the season so far and the third best World Cup result of her career so far. After struggling in some of the women's world cup downhills Alcott was pleased not only with her skiing today, but also with the way in which she handled the pressure of skiing first. Two years ago she let the stress of opening the course get to her, but today she was able to use her intuition to ski the fall line as much as possible and return a very encouraging result, less than a month before the start of the Olympic Winter Games.

All proposals and decisions of the FIS Alpine Committee were approved by the FIS Council at its online Meeting held on 25.05.2020 1. Welcome and Opening of the Meeting The Chairman, Bernhard Russi (SUI), welcomed all online present to the 90th meeting of the FIS Alpine Committee and extended his greetings to Gian Franco Kasper, FIS President, Sarah Lewis, FIS General Secretary, Council Members, as well as members of Working Groups. 2. Roll Call Janez Fleré (FIS) conducted the Roll Call. (see page 27) 3. Approval of the Agenda The Agenda, without additions or remarks, was unanimously approved. 4. Approval of the Minutes The Minutes of the 89th Meeting held in October 2019 in Zurich (SUI) were, without comments or remarks, unanimously approved. 5. Reports From Sarah Lewis FIS Secretary General She welcomes all members of the Alpine Committee, NSA representatives and thanked all organisers who suffered the damage of cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The main goal is to focus on the future and how to approach the next winter season with the correct solutions. She explained how important next season will be in order to safeguard the future of our sport and the World Cup and of course the World Championships. To find solutions to travel restrictions and event limitations for the organisers will be one of our tasks. The FIS Council will establish a task force that includes members of the National Ski Association organising nation, the respective local organising committee, broadcast- commercial rights holder, FIS Race Director and Management, Medical Committee representative, Alpine Committee Chair and Council member from the organising nation The slides show details of how FIS is working in finding solutions to organise the FIS World Cup 2020/21.

Et même s’ils ne sont pas légion, le ski demeurant une activité assez confidentielle, voici les portraits décapants de champion(ne)s qui n’ont pas froid aux yeux. Et même s’il est alambiqué de juxtaposer les époques, c’est avec force subjectivité et totale partialité que j’impose aux tribuns avertis mon anthologie plébéienne. 1 – 1937 / 1939. Les deux triplés de Christl Cranz. Championnats du monde de Chamonix et Zakopane. Christl Cranz est un nom qui ne résonne presque plus dans le monde du ski alpin. Pourtant, la trace laissée par cette championne allemande de légende est aussi profonde que son palmarès est épais. Et même si ses liens avec le national socialisme restent sulfureux, il faut lui accorder une place privilégiée dans ce palmarès. Première championne olympique de l’histoire (combiné en 1936), Cranz est la skieuse la plus titrée (12) et la plus médaillée (15) des championnats du monde de ski. Il faut dire qu’en gagnant toutes les courses disputées en 1937 et 1939 (descente, slalom et combiné), elle réalisa une razzia unique dans l’histoire de cette compétition. 2 – 1956.
