Ministerial Meetin on Miration and Interation January , Paris WHO’S WHO Chair Switzerland Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter was born in 1963 and is from the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She attended school in Wil and Neuchâtel. Karin Keller-Sutter is a trained translator/interpreter and secondary school teacher. Between 1989 and 2000, she worked as a freelance translator and also taught at a vocational school. Karin Keller-Sutter began her political career in 1992 as a member of Wil town Council and was elected to the cantonal parliament of St. Gallen in 1996. In 2000, she entered the cantonal government of St. Gallen where she headed the Justice and Security Department. In 2011, Karin Keller-Sutter was elected to the Council of States where she represented the canton of St. Gallen. She held the presidency of the Council of States in 2017/2018. Karin Keller-Sutter has also sat on the boards of various companies and foundations. The United Federal Assembly elected Karin Keller-Sutter to the Swiss Federal Council on 5 December 2018. Since January 2019 she heads the Federal Department of Justice and Police. 1 Vice-Chairs Chile Gonzalo Blumel Mac-Iver – Minister of Interior and Public Security Gonzalo Blumel Mac-Iver is a Civil Engineer (PUC) and holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of Birmingham and a Master's in Engineering Sciences from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). Between 2010 and 2013, he was Head of the Studies Division at the Ministry of the Presidency. He later went on to become Head of the advisory team to the Presidency. He has served as an assistant professor in both the Department of Industrial Engineering in the School of Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and in the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universidad del Desarrollo. Between 2005 and 2007, he served as Director of Planning in the Local Government of Futrono, within the framework of the “Jóvenes al Servicio de Chile” programme of the Jaime Guzmán Foundation. He was previously a researcher at the Center for Environment of Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He is part of the Chilean Public Policy Society, serves as executive director of the Avanza Chile Foundation, and is director of the Entre Pares educational foundation, dedicated to the promotion of collaborative strategies in the class room in vulnerable schools. Spain Magdalena Valerio Cordero - Minister of Labour, Migration and Social Security Magdalena Valerio Cordero was born in Torremocha in 1959 in Cáceres, Spain. She completed a Bachelor of Law in the Complutense University of Madrid in 1985. She became a Member of Parliament in the 10th legislature, from 2011 to 2016. During that period, between 2014 and 2016, she held positions of Spokesperson for Socialist Deputies Group D. She has been Deputy Spokesperson for the Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of the Toledo Pact Agreements, member of the Congress Standing Committee, Second Secretary of the Justice Committee Board, and member of the Employment and Social Security Committee. She was a Member of the Socialist Regional Executive between 2008 and 2012 in the Castile-La Mancha Regional Government. From 2016 to 2018 she was the Provincial Secretary for Infrastructure Investment at the Castile-La Mancha Regional Council. She has also served as City Council Member and Spokesperson for the Socialist Party. She held relevant government responsibilities between 2005 and 2010, as heading Department of Labour and Employment, the Department of Tourism and Crafts, and of Justice and Public Administration. As a Career civil servant, she is a member of the Social Security Management Corps, and of the Employment Management Corps of the Spanish Public Employment Service (INEM).
