St Mary’s Parish, Bennekerry Sunday 26th May 2019 Sixth Sunday of Easter

THE MAY MAGNIFICAT May is Mary's month, and I Muse at that and wonder why Her feasts follow reason, Dated due to season-

Candlemas, Lady Day: But the Lady Month, May, Why fasten that upon her, With a feasting in her honour?

Ask of her, the mighty mother Her reply puts this other Question: What is Spring? Growth in every thing-

All things rising, all things sizing Mary sees, sympathizing With that world of good, Nature's motherhood.

Well but there was more than this Spring's universal bliss Much, had much to say To offering Mary May.

Lines from :-Gerard Manley Hopkins poem

‘A Word of Truth and Hope’ A resource pack for Parish Pastoral Councils and other parish groups, prepared by the Council for Marriage and the Family, following last August’s celebration of the World Meeting of the Families and the visit of Pope Francis to Ireland, published by Veritas, is available through Veritas. It proposes a vision for the family which might shape our response as people of faith, and as citizens, to the diverse needs and challenges experienced in families in Ireland today. Many of the questions addressed in the publication are the same questions which exercised the Government’s Commission on the Family between 1995 - 1998. The primary objective of that Commission was to examine how public policy could best support and help families in the changing demographics of the day. www.veritas.ie
