London Transport Service Vehicles Fleet Information LONDON TRANSPORT SERVICE VEHICLES FLEET INFORMATION Part 2e - Details - Bus Company Vehicles etc Issue 1 - March 2015 Part 2e - Bus Co etc LONDON TRANSPORT SERVICE VEHICLES Issue 1 - March 2015 Contents Page 2 Introduction 3 Former Buses 11 Hired Vehicles 16 LCBS (London Country Bus Services) Vehicles 33 Bus Company Vehicles 300 Other Companies Introduction About this document This document contains a detailed list of the service vehicles operated by London Transport, its successors and associated companies. It is one of several that take their information from the LTSV website (www.ltsv.com) and is updated to 1st March 2015. The other documents can also be downloaded from the LTSV website and include the following: Part 1 gives a basic list of all known service vehicles Part 3 contains the captioned photographs that have been published on the website (broken down into sections due to size) Part 4 has a list of service vehicle locations and also the news and forum sections from the website LTSV has accumulated a large amount of information over the years. By making these documents available for download it is hoped that the content can be preserved even if something happens to me or my website. This document will be re-issued perhaps once or twice a year with updated content. However, for the latest information, please refer to www.ltsv.com. Whilst part 1 lists the basic details of all vehicles in a tabular format, this part gives more detail and hence uses a single table for each vehicle. The additional information comprises: Chassis and body numbers (where known). Supplier and disposal details (where known). Notes. This includes items added by contributors to LTSV History. This will eventually cover the allocations, transfers and other changes that affected each vehicle The tables also include a small photograph, where one has been published on LTSV. Note that these photos are included as a guide only and are of low resolution. Larger copies of the photos can be found in the part 3 documents (refer to the number shown underneath each photo to locate it) or on the LTSV website. Not included are additional photos of each vehicle (except in a few cases where the appearance changed markedly), the licensing dates or the sightings reported. All of these can be found on the website. The addition of vehicle histories is an ongoing task at present, and many vehicles do not yet have any (or complete) entries. Coverage of the period 1946 to 1982 is virtually complete, other periods are in progress. The sources of the allocation information are either official documents or observations. The former sometimes presents anomalies, such as a vehicle being listed as moving from A to B and then later from C to D. Such instances are notated as 'non-contiguous'. There are also entries that may appear to be duplicated. For example, if two official lists dated 01/01/1961 and 01/01/1962 both showed a vehicle as being allocated to X, both will appear. If you find any errors in this document, or have any additional information, please get in touch using e-mail [email protected]. • Combining Scheduled Commuter Services with Private Hire, Sightseeing and Tour Work: the London Experience by Derek Kenneth Robbins and Peter Royden White*
CEE INGS Twenty-sixth Annual Meeting Theme: "Markets and Management in an Era of Deregulation" November 13-15, 1985 Amelia Island Plantation Jacksonville, Florida Volume XXVI Number 1 1985 TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH FORUM In conjunction with CANADIAN TRANSPORTATION 4 RESEARCH FORM 273 Combining Scheduled Commuter Services with Private Hire, Sightseeing and Tour Work: The London Experience By Derek Kenneth Robbins and Peter Royden White* ABSTRACT dent operators ran only 8% of stage carriage mileage but operated 91% of private hire and contract The Transport Act 1980 completely removed mileage and 86% of all excursions and tours quantity control for scheduled express services mileage.' The 1980 Transport Act removed the which carry passengers more than 30 miles meas- quantity controls for two of the types of operation, ured in a straight line. It also made road service namely scheduled express services and most excur- licenses easier to obtain for operators wishing to run sions and tours. However the quality controls were services over shorter distances by limiting the scope retained, in the case of vehicle maintenance and for objections. As a result of these legislative inspections being strengthened. The Act redefined changes a new type of service has emerged over the "scheduled express" services. Since 1930 they had last four years carrying long-distance commuters to been defined by the minimum fare charged and and from work in London. Vehicles used on such because of inflation many short distance services services would only be utilised for short periods came to be defined as "Express", despite raising the every weekday unless other work were also found minimum fare yardstick in both 1971 and 1976.

  • Historical Derby Fleet List
DERBY BOROUGH TRANSPORT HISTORICAL FLEET LIST This list is not complete - Please email any additions or corrections to this list - thanks! Some notes on Derby's fleet numbering may be helpful. The prewar motorbus series reached 73, and the first wartime utility bus (a solitary Bristol K) took the fleet number 74. The series then reverted to 1, with 1-21 being Daimler and Guy utilities. By 1949, however, the new series was 'catching up' with the earlier prewar numbers, hence the jump from 41 to 75 to avoid duplication. This series then continued right up to 315, delivered in 1981; lowheight double deckers and coaches were numbered in separate series, as were the four Daimlers acquired secondhand from Halifax. A new series for new-generation double deckers was begun in 1978 by Foden NC number 101. Trolleybuses followed on from the tram series, with the first one (79) arriving in 1932; the series then continued unbroken to 243 of 1960. The motorbus series nearly caught up with the trolleybus numbers in 1966, but the complete withdrawal of trolleybus services in 1967 eliminated this problem. Trolleybuses F/No Reg. • 6. Tackling Congestion
    6. Tackling Congestion Reducing the levels of congestion remains a fundamental objective in this Plan. This not only look at addressing congestion related problems currently being experienced in Southend but at managing expected traffic growth in the future. The latter is essential in ensuring future aspirations for the Borough are realised, especially plans for regeneration and intensification of the urban area. Southend already experiences significant delays on many sections of its key routes. Without intervention, overall traffic levels on local highway network during the morning peak hour are forecast to grow by over 20% by 2011 and 35% by 2016. As a result, peak hour traffic conditions will deteriorate significantly with journey times on strategic routes expected to increase by between 50% and 75% by 2011, and doubling by 2016. It is clear that the strategy for reducing congestion has synergies with the transport measures and policies identified to deliver other shared priorities, namely accessibility, safer roads, better air quality and quality of life. Improvement in terms of accessibility and safety will make alternatives to the car more attractive, and similarly reducing traffic levels and congestion will likely reduce numbers of accidents and impacts on air quality. An Overview to Achieving the Shared Priority The LTP strategy will help deliver improved and more reliable journey times for all road users and seek to redress the balance of the transport system by making non-car modes a far more attractive alternative to the car for many trips. The strategy is based on managing the existing network, as well as reinforcing and strengthening measures and policies aimed at influencing people’s travel behaviour and ultimately promoting sensible travel choices.
