Tim Foster President of Colorado Mesa University

Fellow Mavericks Fan:

Whether in the classroom, on the playing field or the hardwood, Colorado Mesa University is committed to providing a student-focused, experiential learning environment. As part of this commitment, the University provides a variety of intercollegiate and club competitive athletic opportunities for our students. Making the most of these opportunities, many of Colorado Mesa’s student athletes are excelling both in the athletic arena and in the classroom. Along with earning more than 64 conference championships, our athletes, both past and present, have earned academic awards at the college, conference and national levels. We had eight teams earn regional berths in 2011-2012 and six advance to their respective NCAA Division II National Tournament. Just this past year alone, 120 of our student- athletes were named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic, eight to the All-Region Academic Team and three Academic All-Americans. We also had nine student-athletes earn All- America status, 93 named Rocky Mountain Athletic All-Conference and three RMAC Athletes of the Year. These remarkable individuals are proving that the skills needed for athletic success -- dedication, focus, teamwork, dealing with success and adversity, perseverance and good old hard work – are the same skills required to make significant academic accomplishments. By engaging in both scholarship and the high ideals of sportsmanship, they are enriching their college experiences, paving the way for successful careers and serving as positive role models for the next generation of student athletes. Thank you for supporting Colorado Mesa University athletics and our high-achieving student athletes. This year promises to continue the tradition of great athletic accomplishments and we hope you’ll share your enthusiasm and love of sport with the Mavericks. We’ll see you at the games!

Sincerely,

Tim Foster, President Colorado Mesa University

Joanne Chojecki Assistant Coach

Joanne Chojecki comes to Colorado Mesa University after graduating in 2012 from Washington and Jefferson College, where she received a Bachelors of Science in Political Science and a minor in History.

Chojecki is from Buffalo, NY where she says “It’s where I was given the chance to work with knowledgeable coaches who have helped me not only in lacrosse but in life. They made the game fun, yet taught me discipline in every aspect of my being. They are partly the reason why I am here today, coaching and teaching that discipline to others.”

Coach Chojecki has an immense background of every position on the field. Starting as a low defender, she worked her way up to low attack, and even found herself in the cage in college. An attacker for the Presidents, Chojecki started 29 of 30 games at Washington & Jefferson where she racked up 34 points her freshman and sophomore seasons. She helped lead her team to the ECAC playoffs in 2009 where the President’s were defeated in the Championship round and took home second place. In 2010 the Presidents accepted another bid to the ECAC playoffs where they lost in the first round.

In summers past, Joanne coached the Lady Knights in Hamburg, NY. Working on the fundamentals, she coached the 10-and- under team, as well as the 12-and-under team. This is her first year as an assistant coach for CMU.
