News from Stacey, Grades 1-5, Family Ministry, [email protected] or 288-5528 x108 Grades 1-5: Faith Formation classes for public school and home school children begin on Monday, September 16th. During the first class, we will have parents and children meet in Fr. Zenk Hall. Catechists will be introduced and the children will go to their classes while the parents attend the parent meeting. We have catechists for all the classes at 4:30pm and 6:00pm. Parents can volunteer to assist the catechists by signing up on the first day of classes during the parent meeting. If you have not registered your children for classes, forms and calendars are located in the Gathering Space. Please complete the form and bring them with your child to the first day of classes on Mon- day. First Reconciliation: We are starting to prepare children in grade 2 or older to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. Every child will need to complete and hand in: a purple sac prep form, a copy of their baptismal certificate (unless baptized at Resurrection) and the sac prep fee of $50 that covers both sacraments. If you missed the parent meeting last Monday, please email or call me to set up a time to come in and get your child registered. If you have any questions or concerns about the sacraments, call or e-mail me. Virtues in Practice: Our virtue this month is charity, which is loving God with all your heart, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself. St. Vincent de Paul had been kidnapped by pirates, escaped to Rome and tutored the children of rich noble families. After some time, he realized that he had become proud and superficial. He gave up his position, and began to serve the poor, giving special attention to the poor rowers in the galleys of wealthy ships. With the help of St. Louise de Marillac, he founded the Ladies of Charity, groups of women who took care of the sick and poor in parishes. Later, the Ladies of Charity developed into a religious order named the Daughters of Charity. Today, our parish is part of a larger group called the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, who continue to love and share with the poor of Rochester. St. Vincent de Paul, pray for us!
