The Aspects of Starting a Large Family

Zoltán Zsolt Nagy, MD, PhD 3Health visitor, Joint Institute of Health and Social Affairs, Győr, Hungary Head of Institute: Mihály Panker Summary Introduction. Being raised in a large family is not only favourable regarding the development of the child but beneficial for the whole society as well. In Hungary fewer and fewer children are born and the number of children growing up in large families has been decreasing. So the examination of this field of subject from the perspective of healthcare has valid ground. Aim. By studying the questionnares and interviews with students of the Semmelweis University Faculty of Health Sciences (SE ETK) we’ve tried to explore what can be done by healthcare professionals to improve the family planning of the youth. We focused on the opinions of health visitor students who were raised in big family. What are they thinking about starting their own family and how their origin and the healthcare system affects it? What are their views on the resources a large family pro- vides? Material and methods. The second, third and fourth year nurse, midwife and health visitor students of SE ETK filled out a quantitative questionnaire in spring 2012 as a part of a research launched in 2007, called ”Students’ Plans to Start a Family”. -
The Ban on Abortion and the Politicization of Women's Bodies
THE BAN ON ABORTION AND THE POLITICIZATION OF WOMEN’S BODIES IN EARLY REPUBLICAN TURKEY BETWEEN 1923-1946 By Oguz Soylu Submitted to Central European University Department of History In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Supervisor: Associate Professor Constantin Iordachi Second Reader: Assistant Professor Noemi Levy-Aksu CEU eTD Collection Budapest, Hungary 2014 Statement of Copyright “Copyright in the text of this thesis rests with the Author. After the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on October 29, 1923, the early republican regime granted many modernized rights to women within the project of women’s emancipation. However, at the same time, the new regime criminalized abortion and initiated strong pro-natalist policies by bringing reproduction under the state’s biological control. In addition, new legislations passed contained some articles which had unequal treatment of women and put them in a secondary position in their private lives, and new educational structures directed girls to take gendered lessons to be ideal mothers and virtuous wives. -

Corrado GINI B. 23 May 1884 - D
Corrado GINI b. 23 May 1884 - d. 13 March 1965 Summary. From a strictly statistical point of view, Gini’s contributions per- tain mainly to mean values and variability and association between statistical variates, with original contributions also to economics, sociology, demogra- phy and biology. The historical context of his life and his personality helped make him the doyen of Italian statistics. Corrado Gini was born in Motta di Livenza (in the Province of Treviso in the North East of Italy. He was the son of rich landowners. He died in Rome in 1965. In 1905 he graduated in law from the University of Bologna. His degree thesis Il sesso dal punto di vista statistico (Gender from a Statistical Point of View), which was published in 1908, soon showed that his interests were not of a juridical nature even if “his study of the law, however, gave him a taste and a capacity for subtle arguments tending to submit the facts to logic and so to organise and dominate them” [3, p.3]. During university he attended additionally some mathematics and biology courses. His university career advanced rapidly. In fact in 1909 he was already temporary professor of Statistics at the University of Cagliari and in 1910, at only 26, he acceded to the Chair of Statistics at the same University. In 1913 he moved to the University of Padua and from 1927 he held the Chair of Statistics at the University of Rome. Between 1926 and 1932 he was President of the Central Institute of Statis- tics (ISTAT) and during this period he organised and co-ordinated the na- tional statistical services, bringing them to a good and efficient technical level despite various difficulties. -

We present the ‘Contactless’ model, a comprehensive operational tool including a plurality of services delivered remotely, structured according to a complexity gradient, aimed to cover diagnostic procedures and monitor disease progression in chronic pediatric patients. Methods: A multidisciplinary and multiprofessional project team was recruited, in collaboration with patients’ associations, to map a panel of available Evidence-Based solutions and address individual needs in full respect of the concept of personalized medicine. The solutions include a number of services from videoconsultations to more structure videotraining sessions. Results: A modular framework made up of four three Macro-levels of complexity - Contactless Basic, Intermediate and Advanced - was displayed as an incremental set of services and operational planning establishing each phase, from factors influencing eligibility to the delivery of the most accurate and complex levels of care. -

Pino Nano, “Natuzza Evolo: Father Agostino Gemelli Condemns Her to Isolation”
Regioni & Città - Pino Nano, “Natuzza Evolo: Father Agostino Gemelli condemns her to isolation” Roma - 31 gen 2021 (Prima Pagina News) The Archive of Cattolica University in Milan has kept confidential correspondence on the case of Natuzza Evolo since 1940. One of the most mysterious pages in the history of Natuzza Evolo, is the investigation conducted by the official Church of the time in the early months of 1940, after a long series of inexplicable events experienced by Natuzza when she was just a girl and was already working as a servant. The main concern of the Church at that time was the confidence shown by Natuzza when sharing her conversations with the Virgin Mary with her hosts, and that she seemed to know a lot about the afterlife and the world of the dead, which Natuzza claimed she could get in touch with. The most impressive thing was the detailed descriptions she could give to the relatives of the dead with whom she spoke. She could tell what they were wearing in the coffin after their death. On one occasion, Natuzza was able to tell what color the skirt of a woman who had died twenty years earlier was and even describe its pattern. On another occasion, she described the color and cut of the suit worn by a local notable when he was buried. In Paravati, the small town where Natuzza was born and lived her entire life, people still remember that number of faithful rushing in her home to ask about their loved ones, to find out if “they were okay”, to ask her if “there was something they could do for them”. -
Corrado Gini: Professor of Statistics in Padua, 1913Ð19251
Statistica Applicata - Italian Journal of Applied Statistics Vol. 28 (2-3) 115 CORRADO GINI: PROFESSOR OF STATISTICS IN PADUA, 1913–19251 Silio Rigatti Luchini University of Padua, Italy2 Abstract This paper is concerned with the period 1913-1925 during which Corrado Gini was a professor of Statistics at the University of Padua. We describe the situation of statistics in the Italian academia before his enrolment at the Faculty of Law and then his activities in this faculty first as an adjunct professor and then of full professor of statistics. He founded a laboratory of statistics, similar to that he established at the University of Cagliari, and in 1924 the first Italian institute of statistics, in which students could gain a degree in statistics. He was very active in statistical research so that most of the innovation he introduced in statistics was already published before the Great War. During the war, he was first a soldier of the Italian army and then he collaborated with the national government in conducting many important surveys at national level. In 1920 he founded also the international journal Metron. In 1925 he moved from the University of Padua to that of Rome. Keywords: Corrado Gini; University of Padua, Institute of Statistics; Metron. 1. INTRODUCTION Corrado Gini was born on 23 May 1884 in Motta di Livenza, Treviso Province, to Lavinia Locatelli and Luciano Gini, a couple who belonged to the upper-middle agrarian class. He died in Rome on 13 March 1965. After graduating with a law degree from the University of Bologna in 1905, he advanced rapidly in his academic career. -

DO AS THE SPANIARDS DO. THE 1821 PIEDMONT INSURRECTION AND THE BIRTH OF CONSTITUTIONALISM Haced como los españoles. Los movimientos de 1821 en Piamonte y el origen del constitucionalismo PIERANGELO GENTILE Universidad de Turín [email protected] Cómo citar/Citation Gentile, P. (2021). Do as the Spaniards do. The 1821 Piedmont insurrection and the birth of constitutionalism. Historia y Política, 45, 23-51. doi: https://doi.org/10.18042/hp.45.02 (Reception: 15/01/2020; review: 19/04/2020; acceptance: 19/09/2020; publication: 01/06/2021) Abstract Despite the local reference historiography, the 1821 Piedmont insurrection still lacks a reading that gives due weight to the historical-constitutional aspect. When Carlo Alberto, the “revolutionary” Prince of Carignano, granted the Cádiz Consti- tution, after the abdication of Vittorio Emanuele I, a crisis began in the secular history of the dynasty and the kingdom of Sardinia: for the first time freedoms and rights of representation broke the direct pledge of allegiance, tipycal of the absolute state, between kings and people. The new political system was not autochthonous but looked to that of Spain, among the many possible models. Using the extensive available bibliography, I analyzed the national and international influences of that 24 PIERANGELO GENTILE short historical season. Moreover I emphasized the social and geographic origin of the leaders of the insurrection (i.e. nobility and bourgeoisie, core and periphery of the State) and the consequences of their actions. Even if the insurrection was brought down by the convergence of the royalist forces and the Austrian army, its legacy weighed on the dynasty.
