  • December 2019 As We Approach the Christmas Break, Students Are Continuing to Work Hard in Lessons
December 2019 As we approach the Christmas break, students are continuing to work hard in lessons. Year 11 students have just completed their first round of mock exams and will receive their results on their Mock Results Day on Tuesday 7th January 2020. In addition, we look forward to discussing their results with parents on Monday 13th January 2020 at the Year 11 Parents’ Evening. Our Year 13 students have also completed their mock exams and will receive their results in one to one interviews with Miss Murray (Head of Post-16). Many Year 13 students are currently in the process of applying for University and are anxiously waiting for their offers to come in. I have been very impressed with how well our Year 7 students have settled in to life at Aldercar High School. They have quite clearly risen to the many challenges that their first term at Secondary School has thrown at them. To celebrate the end of the Autumn Term, on Friday 20th December we will be: having Christmas dinner (at a cost of £2.40); giving students the opportunity to wear Christmas colours or a Christmas jumper for non-uniform day (for a donation of £1); finishing the term at 1.45pm (if your child needs to stay on the school site until 2.45pm, please contact pupil reception by Thursday 19th December and we will arrange for them to be supervised). We look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Monday 6th January, at 8:20am. With regards to staffing, we are saying farewell to Mrs Wolverson who is our Catering Manager.

  • Meet the Governors of the Winstanley School
Meet the Governors of The Winstanley School Vivien Evans Chair of Governing Body (from June 2019) Governor type Community Governor I worked as a full-time secondary school teacher for 34 years in several different schools in Leicester City and Leicestershire prior to taking early retirement at the end of the 2014/15 academic year. During my teaching career I held various roles, including being a classroom teacher, Curriculum Leader, Language College Director, Assistant Principal and trainee Headteacher. I was appointed to the Senior Leadership Team at Groby Community College to achieve and maintain Specialist Language College status in partnership with Brookvale High School. In my role as Language College Director I took a lead in the college being twice awarded the International School Award as well as achieving International Baccalaureate World School status. During my last few years as Assistant Principal, I was responsible for the behaviour, attendance and punctuality of KS4 students and was also the designated Safeguarding Lead. In this role I also supported the college to achieve the Equalities Award. In retirement I am very keen to use my skills and experience to support The Winstanley School to be formally recognised as a provider of high quality learning for all students. This year I have expressed a particular interest in monitoring the effectiveness of Leadership, at all levels Steve Reeves Vice Chair of Governing Body Governor Type: Parent Governor A little over twenty years ago I came to work at Millfield Primary School as a Key Stage 2 teacher. I became Deputy Head teacher a few years later.

T DEVELOPMENT CONTROL AND REGULATORY BOARD 19 TH JANUARY 2006 REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES APPLICATION UNDER REGULATION 3 OF THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING GENERAL REGULATIONS LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL – ERECTION OF REPLACEMENT HIGH SCHOOL WITH SPORTS HALL, ASSOCIATED FACILITIES AND EXTERNAL WORKS – GARTREE HIGH SCHOOL, RIDGEWAY, OADBY (OADBY AND WIGSTON BOROUGH) 2005/0562/08 – 17 October 2005 Background 1. Gartree High School is one of five high schools within Leicestershire built with a form of construction known as “Intergrid”. This building method dates back from the late 1950’s and has been assessed by the Building Research Establishment as providing a lifespan of approximately 50 years. Therefore the school is approaching the end of its lifespan and is in need of replacement. This application seeks to obtain planning permission for a replacement high school building, together with a new sports hall, alteration to playing field/sports pitch configuration, and the creation of a new parking area and an access road. Description of Proposal 2. The application site is located to the south of Oadby, on the southern side of Ridgeway and Howdon Road within the urban area. To the north of Ridgeway are residential properties looking onto the site. Along Howdon Road lies Devonshire Court, a elderly persons care home. Gartree is the middle of three adjoining campuses, with The Beauchamp College (14-19 year olds) to the east, and Brocks Hill Primary School (4-10 year olds) to the west. To the south of the sites is the open countryside (including land identified in the Green Wedge).
