SUPPORT AND ADVICE FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR It’s been over a month since schools started back, which is plenty of time to know whether things are going well, or if something’s not quite right. We see hundreds of parents and young people each year and know that moving up a year at school, changing school and transitioning between schools can cause stress and bring challenges for students and their parents. Common issues we hear from parents include: Transitioning between schools has not gone well We haven’t had enough information from schools We don’t know how to get the help we need to support our child If your child (or yourself, if you’re a young person) is struggling with the new school year, you’re not alone and there are ways you can get the help and support you need. We usually recommend that you set up a meeting between the school, the school’s SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and yourself.
