Bio: Ever since Jin Kazama was defeated at the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 6, Ling Xiaoyu had been on a personal mission to find her friend. She had been trying to convince people that Jin was not an international criminal committing war crimes against several nations but many people chose to ignore her defensive case. Desperate and running out of leads, Xiaoyu turned to Heihachi Mishima, who had restored the Mishima Zaibatsu back to its original state. Xiaoyu couldn't tell Heihachi that she was looking for Jin but she was willing to help Heihachi any way she could. Doing so, Heihachi paired Xiaoyu with Chai Xianghua, a Chinese soldier who was sent on assignment to cover up an incident, and Christie Monteiro, who was not only looking for Eddy Gordo but also secretly working with Lei Wulong as a private investigator. While it seemed as though Xiaoyu was eager to work for Heihachi and was willing to do whatever he commanded, Xianghua and Christie were not as eager as her, which raised suspicion within Xiaoyu and started to question her partners' motives. One day, as Heihachi made the announcement for the Warrior of the Iron Soul tournament, Xiaoyu knew that this was her chance to find Jin Kazama herself but at the same time she started to grow more suspicious of Xianghua and Christie's intentions. There was only one way for Xiaoyu to find out the motives of her partners and the whereabouts of Jin Kazama.

Rivals:

Stage 4 Rival/Stage: Christie Monteiro/Rio De Janeiro Christie is on her cell phone talking to Lei Wulong. As Xiaoyu approaches her, she overhears her conversation as she mentions vital information regarding the Mishima Zaibatsu. As Christie hangs up, Xiaoyu confronts her about her real motives. Christie tells Xiaoyu that she doesn't have anything to tell her, to which Xiaoyu gets in her fighting stance. After Xiaoyu defeats Christie, Xiaoyu tells her that she will report her to Heihachi Mishima and have her done away with, to which Christie tells her that she and Heihachi can rot.

Stage 7 Rival/Stage: Xianghua/Beijing (Day) or Jin Kazama/Sydney Against Xianghua: Xianghua is growing tired of having to work for the Mishima Zaibatsu and is talking to herself about leaving, when Xiaoyu meets up with her. Xiaoyu asks Xianghua what's wrong, causing Xianghua to leave her train of thought and blurt out the possibility of leaving the Mishima Zaibatsu. Xiaoyu hears this and warns Xianghua not to leave. Xianghua tells Xiaoyu that she will leave, even if it means going through her. After Xiaoyu defeats Xianghua, Xiaoyu tells her that she and Christie will be dealt with. She sees a group of Chinese soldiers passing by and looks back at Xianghua, telling her that maybe someone else will deal with you.

Against Jin: Jin is walking about when he is stopped by Xiaoyu, who hugs him. Infatuated by meeting Jin, Xiaoyu expresses how much she misses him until Jin sees a Mishima Zaibatsu insignia and says "You're working for him". Xiaoyu then receives a call from her talk phone. Xiaoyu answers it and is told to eliminate Jin. Hesitant, Xiaoyu tells Jin that she is sorry and that her loyalty is to the Mishima Zaibatsu. After defeating Jin, Xiaoyu takes pity on Jin and tells him that she is sorry that she had to fight him and that she promises to prove his innocence but receives a call from Heihachi telling her to head to Spain, to meet her other boss.

Sub-Boss (Stage 9): Cervantes/Valencia Xiaoyu is seen walking in Valencia when she is spotted by Cervantes, who tells her that he is Heihachi Mishima's new business partner and co-owner of the Mishima Zaibatsu. He asks her if she had found Jin Kazama, to which Xiaoyu nods but when Cervantes asks her whether or not she killed him or had him arrested, Xiaoyu quickly responds saying no, angering Cervantes. This leads to Cervantes getting in his fighting stance as he tells her to know her place. After Xiaoyu defeats Cervantes, Xiaoyu tells Cervantes that he is not her boss and that she only answers to Heihachi Mishima.

Final Stage: Nightmare or Night Terror/Mishima Zaibatsu Laboratory As Xiaoyu arrives at the laboratory, she hears screams from scientists as well as blaringalarms and sirens. A large figured, cloaked in azure armor, reveals itself to be eitherNightmare or Night Terror. The azure armor glows laser red eyes as it bellows. "Prepare for your demise!" as it sprouts a deformed arm (as Nightmare) or golden wings (as Night Terror).

Ending: After defeating Nightmare or Night Terror, Xiaoyu finds herself back in Mishima Zaibatsu headquarters amidst a raid taking place. She sees Christie leading Kilik and Xianghua to safety. She tries to stop them but is called over for help by Heihachi. Xiaoyu assists Heihachi until Jin arrives and takes out Heihachi. As Xiaoyu tries to stop Jin, members of the Fists of Raijin intervene as Jin delivers the final blow to Heihachi. Jin turns his attention to his men, who are detaining Xiaoyu. Jin asks her who her real loyalty lies to. Xiaoyu looks at Heihachi, who is unconscious and then back at Jin. Xiaoyu then pledges her allegiance to Jin as she hugs him. We then see Jin sitting on a throne with Xiaoyu sitting at his right. The members of the Fists of Raijin then chant. "Hail Jin and Xiaoyu!" as the camera zooms at the two of them before Xiaoyu deviously smiling before the screen fades.
