Presidential candidates [ edit ]

In July 2017 the People's Representative Council confirmed that only parties or coalitions with at least 20% of seats in the legislature, or 25% of votes in the previous election, would be eligible to field a presidential candidate.[7]

Contesting parties [ edit ]

On 17 February 2018, the General Elections Commission announced that 14 parties had passed the verification precedes,and would be eligible to contest the legislative election. The Crescent Star Party subsequently appealed to the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), which ruled it could participate, making a total of 15 parties.[23][24] The Indonesian Justice and Unity Party's appeal to Bawaslu was rejected, but an 11 April ruling by the National Administrative Court (Pengadilan Tata Usaha Negara) decreed that the party was eligible to contest in the election.[25]
