  • New on Video &
New On Video & DVD Yes Man Jim Carrey returns to hilarious form with this romantic comedy in the same vein as the Carrey classic Liar Liar. After a few stints in more serious features like Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and The Number 23, Carrey seems right at home playing Carl, a divorcé who starts out the film depressed and withdrawn, scared of taking a risk. Pressured by his best friend, Peter (Bradley Cooper), to get his act together or be stuck with a lonely life, Carl attends a New Age self-help seminar intended to change "no men" like Carl into "yes men" willing to meet life's challenges with gusto. Carl is reluctant at first, but finds the seminar to be ultimately life-changing when he's coerced into giving the "say yes" attitude a try. As the first opportunity to say yes presents itself, Carl hesitantly utters the three-letter word, setting the stage for a domino effect of good rewards, and giving Carrey a platform to show off his comic chops. But over time Carl realizes that saying yes to everything indiscriminately can reap results as complicated and messy as his life had become when saying "no" was his norm. The always-quirky Zooey Deschanel adds her signature charm as Carl's love interest, Allison. An unlikely match at first glance, the pair actually develop great chemistry as the story progresses, the actors play- ing off each other's different styles of humor. Rhys Darby also shines as Carl's loveable but clueless boss, and That 70s Show's Danny Masterson appears as another one of Carl's friends.

For Immediate Release Contact: David Jacobs Friday, May 5, 2017 212-965-2255/ [email protected] NAACP Legal Defense Fund Statement on Murder Charges in Police Shooting of Jordan Edwards Sherrilyn Ifill, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF), issued the following statement regarding the murder charges brought against the former Balch Springs, Texas, police officer who fatally shot Jordan Edwards last Saturday night: “We are gratified that authorities in Texas have moved swiftly to file murder charges against and fire former Balch Springs Police Officer Roy Oliver for the shooting death of Jordan Edwards. Make no mistake though, this is not reason to rejoice. We are at the start of a long, arduous process that all too often ends without a conviction or jail time. The facts as we know them are horrific and we demand the strictest accountability under law. We will continue to monitor the impending proceeding closely, and to advocate fiercely that this officer will be held accountable for his crime unlike so many of his peers. We also demand that the systemic concerns raised by this incident are addressed by the Balch Springs Police Department.” “Now that charges have been filed, we call on the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office to immediately release video footage of the shooting, as well as any incident reports that may implicate officers who attempted to cover up their colleague’s misconduct. Transparency and accountability are both essential to ensuring justice for Mr. Edwards and his family.” “At this time, our thoughts are with the Edwards family, who have been forced to suffer an excruciating loss that no one should have to endure.” ### Founded in 1940, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.
