Considering its geographic location, Guwahati, the capital of Assam State may be rightfully termed as the gateway to Tawang forthe majority of the tourists planning to visit Tawang. It is approximately 543 Kms. from Tawang and is well connected by Air with direct daily flights from New Delhi and Kolkata and single stop flights coming from Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur etc. which are operated by all the Airlines of the country like Air India, Indigo, Jet Airlines, Spice jet, Go Air etc. with more additions in number of flights and operators expected due to launch of new private airlines in the country. Besides Air connectivity, Guwahati is also very well connected with other major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Jammu, Bangalore, Secundrabad etc. through the vast network of the Indian Railways After reaching Guwahati, one can reach Tawang through the following alternative modes. 1. By Helicopter:The Arunachal Pradesh Helicopter Service is operational from Guwahati Airport and presently the Helicopter services operate from Tawang to Guwahati and back on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. However due to the limited number of seats (on an average 10 – 12 only ) it is advisable that the tickets are pre-booked by calling the Counter at the Guwahati airportor the Aviation officer at Tawang and thereafter paying the ticket charges at the Counter as till now online booking of tickets has not been started by the State Government. The Helicopter journey to Tawang over Bhutan takes around 55 minutes and local transport at Tawang can be arranged by the concerned Hotel / Tour Operator. -

NEW CENTRALLY SPONSORED SCHEME (CCS) ON MANAGEMENT OF GREGARIOUS FLOWERING IN NORTH-EAST INDIA (Source: Ministry of Environment & Forests) New Centrally Sponsored Scheme(CSS) on Management of Gregarious Flowering in North-East India is being administered by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. For this, a Central Monitoring Committee (CMC) has been constituted under the chairmanship of Director General of Forests and Special Secretary (DGF &SS) to review the progress of implementation of various activities envisaged in the ‘Action Plan’. So far, four meetings of CMC have taken place. The fourth meeting of the CMC was held on October 18,2006 under the chairmanship of DGF&SS in New Delhi, in which the representatives of the State Governments concerned along with Shri AMK Rao, Rodent Specialist, Ministry of Agriculture participated. Some of the important decisions taken in the meeting are ; (i) A committee under the chairmanship of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Assam with PCCF Mizoram, PCCF Tripura and Shri A.M.K. Rao as members has been constituted to draft a ‘Comprehensive Flowering Policy’ and ‘Guidelines for Creation of Bamboo Development Fund.’ (ii) Chief Conservator of Forests, Regional Office, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Shillong has been entrusted with the responsibility to obtain report/coordinate in constitution of a ‘Regional Coordination Committee’ for management of gregarious flowering. -

North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme (NERUDP)
North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme (NERUDP) The North Eastern Region (NER) of India, which includes the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, is one of the less developed regions in India. In order to enable these States to meet their development challenges in the urban sector, Government of India (GoI) has requested Asian Development Bank (ADB) to assist it in its efforts to encourage development in the NER. During the last four years an urban sector road map has been prepared for infrastructure investment requirements in priority urban services viz. (i) Water Supply, (ii) Sewerage and Sanitation, and (iii) Solid Waste Management in these states. In addition, Project Management and Capacity Development of the ULBs through institutional and financial reforms is another component of the proposed project so that the ULBs become capable of planning and implementing infrastructure projects. The project named as North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme (NERUDP) is to be implemented by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in two phases. Phase – I covers capital cities of 5 North Eastern States viz. Agartala (Tripura), Aizawl (Mizoram), Gangtok (Sikkim), Kohima (Nagaland) and Shillong (Meghalaya). The states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur would be covered in Phase – II. The project (Phase-I) has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in its meeting held on 26.02.2009. The total cost of the Phase-I of NERUDP is estimated at $285.7 million (INR 1371.4 crores @ $1 = INR 48) with the following financing plan: • 30% of cost of project (i.e. -

No.J.11015/ 2/ 2018-HC{AB)/ 155-157 THE GAUHATI HIGH COURT AIZAWL BENCH : AIZAWL NOTIFICATION Whereas, the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court vide Notification no. 28 dated 19th April, 2021, Notification no. 29 dated zo" April, 2021, Notification no. 30 dated 21st April, 2021 and Notification no. 34 dated 1st May 2021 has issued guidelines and norms to be followed for functioning of the Hon'ble High Court in the Principal Seat as well as its Outlying Benches at Kohima, Aizawl and Itanagar and the subordinate courts of Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh; And whereas this Registry has notified various instructions pertaining to the restricted functioning of the Hon'ble Courts at Aizawl Bench from time to time; Now as the surge in the number of COVID - 19 cases in the State of Mizoram has not seen a decline and to ensure the safety and well being of all stake holders at the Aizawl Bench of the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court in this second wave of COVID-19 pandemic; The Seniormost Judge of the Gauhati High Court, Aizawl Bench has adopted the following measures which shall be strictly implemented in respect of the working of the Aizawl Bench of the Gauhati High Court and these measures will remain in operation from 10.05.2021 onwards and until further orders. MUKHERJEE Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata INTRODUCTION The state of Arunachal Pradesh is an important constituent of the 'Seven Sisters' of north-east India, one of the designated rich biodiversity zones in the World. The relative isolation of the region together with high rainfall, lush-green forests and less vigorous temperature extremities, makes it an ideal habitat for the land and freshwater mollusca. Approximately one third of the total Indian fauna is represented here with above 70% endemicity "(Ramakrishna & Mitra, 2002). Apart from its proximity to the Himalaya, surroundings of Arunachal Pradesh (being bordered by Bhutan, China and Myanmar on three sides) add to its Zoogeographical significance. Though a consolidated report on the mollusca as a whole is still not available, the rich malacofauna of the state has been thoroughly explored and worked out from time to time. Over 100 new species and genera have been described. Important works are from Dey et al., 1985, Ghosh, 1913, Godwin-Austen, 1876, 1876a; 1914--1918; Gude, 1915; and Preston, 1915. The present report is based on material collected from Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary area by the Itanagar Field Station of Zoological Survey of India during 1986-1996.
