Shepherd Mead’s 1952 satirical guide entitled How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying inspired this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning bawdy musical that sparkles with humor, romance, and song. This energetic comedy rounds out Susque- hanna Stage Company’s Pulitzer Prize-winning season enthusi- astically with Frank Loesser’s stand-out score and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock & Willie Gilbert. Big business means big laughs as we watch and cheer for the ambitious window wash- er, J. Pierrepont Finch, scheming and scamming his way from the bottom to the top of the corporate ladder. Armed with a beneficial manual and a dose of his own cleverness, Finch lands a job in the mailroom of the World Wide Wicket Company and quickly gains promotions by outsmarting his co- workers. While in his shrewd quest for corporate takeover, Finch is sidetracked by a marriage-minded secretary, Rose- mary. Eventually, our crafty, common-man hero has to expand beyond trusting the helpful little manual and learn to listen to his heart.

I couldn’t be more excited to bring this exuberant, peppy piece of theatre to the Susquehanna Stage Company stage. Looking and acting like the early episodes of Mad Men, this musical exudes sass with colorful period costumes and the sly satire of “company men” and everyday workplace drama in the early ‘60s.

Theater may appear effortless, but in reality, takes months of preparation, dedication, hard work and collaboration. The production team along with the gifted performers and devoted volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring this charming, zippy show to life. May our efforts and showmanship prove to enter- tain and delight you. We thank you for your support of live Have you addressed Retirement Living? theater in our community. In the year to come, the 10th anni- versary season will prove to be thrilling and memorable. Be sure to join us for every show!
