Dear Applicant: Thank you for your interest in being a designer (set, lighting, sound, or costumes) at Stockton Civic Theatre for our 2016-2017 season. We seek designers for 5 productions: Sister Act (August/September, 2016), (November/December, 2016), Unnecessary Farce (January, 2017), Calendar Girls (April/May, 2017), and Carousel (June/July, 2017), all of which are described on the reverse. If your application is approved, it will be placed in a “pool” from which the directors of those productions can choose. Our hope is that those choices will be made early in the new year. There is a stipend offered for designing for each production. To be considered, please fill out the application and return to my attention at the Stockton Civic Theatre business office, 2312 Rosemarie Lane, Stockton, CA 95207, or e-mail [email protected]. Deadline is Wednesday, November 25, 2015. If you submitted an application last year, you do not have to re-apply unless you have a considerable amount of new information to submit. However, please send me an e-mail explaining which position(s) and which show(s) for which you’d like to be considered. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Box Office (209) 473-2424 ● www.sctlivetheatre.com 2312 Rosemarie Lane, Stockton, CA 95207 ● Phone (209) 473-2400 ● Fax (209) 473-1502 Sister Act: August 31- September 25, 2016 SCT will be one of the first theatres in northern California to produce this feel-amazing musical comedy smash that has audiences jumping to their feet! Based on the hit 1992 film and featuring original music by Tony and 8-time Oscar winner (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Rated PG

Mary Poppins: November 16- December 11, 2016 One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way, as a practically perfect new musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic film, Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for 9 Olivier Awards and 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Rated G

Unnecessary Farce: January 11-29, 2017 In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s being videotaped, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes! This hilarious play by Paul Slade Smith has received numerous regional awards, including a Thespie Award for “Best New Show” in 2007. Rated PG-13.

Calendar Girls: April 26-May 13, 2017 Based on the true story of eleven Women’s Institute (WI) members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. The Telegraph wrote “Calendar Girls, with a script by Tim Firth who also co-wrote the movie, achieves exactly what it sets out to do. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, and it leaves you feeling better about life than you did when you entered the theatre.” Rated PG-13.

Carousel: June 14-July 9, 2017 Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic and personal favorite musical! In a Maine coastal village toward the end of the 19th century, the carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries the naïve millworker, Julie Jordan. Caught in the act of robbery and facing the certainty of prison, he takes his own life and is sent “ there.” Billy is allowed to return to earth for one day fifteen years later. How he instills a sense of hope and dignity in both his daughter and wife is a dramatic testimony to the power of love. Rated PG.
