Club Comments… FEBRUARY It is hard to believe that the first month of 2019 is already “in the books” as they say. Even though we have had a 13…MOVIE DAY bitter, cold ending to January, we certainly have been fortunate as we missed 14…Valentine’s Day getting hit with mounds of snow again (so far, anyway). Ninety-eight members came to see “Mary Poppins Returns” for our 18…Presidents Day January movie. The Banks children are grown up and struggling with a BANK OFFICES ARE OPEN repossession of the family home until Mary Poppins returns to save the day! There was a lot of star power in this delightful movie, casting actors Emily MARCH Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury, along with many others. Our thanks to Roger Barber and Mary Ann Hansen for helping 10…Daylight Savings Time to draw these lucky $2 prize winners: Jerry Kobs, Richard Schlenker, Betty Begins Lines, Tammy Fryman, Arnold Katt, Alberta Kinsey, Ed Vogel, Becky Conley, Candy Suverkrubbe, and Joyce Jorgensen. We will tour blooming gardens with hand-painted murals, see demonstrations on rag rug weaving, making 5…Glenn Miller Orchestra homemade cinnamon rolls (YUM), a presentation on how to make wooden baskets and an old-fashioned quilting bee! Leslie 26…Arbor Day The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra at The Arts Center Friday, April 5, 2019 ~ 7:30 PM The world’s most sought after big band – The Glenn Miller Orchestra - makes their highly anticipated return to the Iowa Western Community College Arts Center! Ladies Only Quilts, Gardens & Amish Delights August 5-9, 2019
Similar to a quilt, a little bit of everything has been pieced together for this “ladies only” getaway: Explore quilt gardens, shop at charming Amish stores, learn how the Amish ladies manage their daily lives, experience an old-fashioned quilting bee!
