Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Falling by Tonya Shepard "Falling" lyrics. My last made me feel like I would never try again But when I saw you, I felt something I never felt Come closer, I'll give you all my love If you treat me right, baby, I'll give you everything My last made me feel like I would never try again But when I saw you, I felt something I never felt Come closer, I'll give you all my love If you treat me right, baby, I'll give you everything. Talk to me, I need to hear you need me like I need ya Fall for me, I wanna know you feel how I feel for you, love Before you, baby, I was numb, drown the pain by pouring up Speeding fast on the run, never want to get caught up Now you the one that I'm calling Swore that I'd never forget, don't think I'm just talking I think I might go all in, no exceptions, girl, I need ya. Feeling like I'm out of my mind, cause I can't get enough Only one that I give my time, 'cause I got eyes for ya Might make an exception for ya, 'cause I been feeling ya Think I might be out of my mind, I think that you're the one. I'll never give my all again 'Cause I'm sick of falling down When I open up and give my trust They find a way to break it down Tear me up inside, and you break me down. Falling. “Did you see how short that skirt was? And that top, it’s called a bra,” Leah mumbles to me as we stare out her bedroom window. “What is he thinking going out with a girl that dresses like that?" “You know what he’s thinking,” I say. Leah and I spy on Connor and all his dates. We just think it is entertaining to see how some girls act. And since we don’t go on dates very often, we like watching his. “What is this week's girl’s name ?" I ask with a roll of my eyes. “Ivy . Well, at least her name fits her actions, she is hanging all over him. It is just sickening how some girls crawl all over him. But look at his face, he is loving every minute. She’s a skank if you ask me, which he never does." Leah cringes as she continues to watch Connor and Ivy sitting on the back patio . I have to move away from the window, because I just can’t watch anymore. Connor Spark is my fantasy guy come to life. Connor is ruggedly handsome. His face has way too many angles but they all just work together. They work really well together. He has shaggy blond hair that is always in his face. He is forever running his hands through his hair or blowing his bangs out of his eyes. As if that wasn’t enough, his body is awesome. He has the body of a year-round athlete, one that is used to contact sports. He is so hot. Leah interrupts my thoughts, “Earth to Abby,” she says as she waves her hand in front of my face . “What were you thinking about?” “Nothing,” I say, “just staring off to space ." Leah knows about my crush, I can’t really hide it. She encourages me to like other boys because Connor and I don’t really run in the same crowd. He is a good looking, athletic, popular senior. I am smart, studious, and average looking. I am just Abby Lowe, a normal eleventh grade girl. I am not popular or an outcast, I am just there. Sometimes Connor hangs out with us because, well, Leah is his sister, and he can’t really avoid us when we are at his house. But that is at their house, at school he is always surrounded by his friends, the popular crowd. And needless to say, girls are always trying to get his attention. He has the reputation of being a player, a different girl every week. I know I don’t have a chance, and I don’t really like the way he treats girls. All I do know is that the Connor I know at Leah’s house is not the Connor I see at school. I am not even sure I like "school Connor," but I love the one I have known for six years. It all started on my first day of sixth grade . My family had just moved to North Carolina and I was so nervous about not only being the new kid but starting middle school. My mom and I went to the office to register me and fill out the needed forms. As soon as I was registered, the secretary introduced me to Leah, another sixth grader, who was given the duty of escorting me around. “So you just moved here?” she asked as we walked down the hall. “Yeah, I used to live in Florida. My dad got a new job so we had to move. Thanks again for showing me around. I was really afraid I was going to get lost.“ “No problem . I have lived here all my life. So what do you like to do for fun?” “I love to read , and I guess I study a lot. I actually love math. I guess I am kind of a nerd.” I said with a grimace. Leah laughed, “Me too . Math is my favorite subject. We should start a nerd herd.” I chuckled, “Or a brain train." I started laughing so hard I ran into an open locker door. I heard someone laughing and that was when I noticed a boy standing at the locker. “Hey, you okay?” he asked as he grabbed my arm . My face turned the color of a tomato. Before I answer, Leah said, “Abby, this is my brother Connor . Connor, Abby just moved here from Florida and I am showing her around. We have all the same classes. Connor is in seventh grade.” I nod at Connor, “Sorry I ran into your locker . I am clumsy a lot.” I giggle nervously. H e grinned, “No worries. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. “ I felt like my heart was about to explode because he was still holding my arm . A cute boy was touching my arm. My heart belonged to him from that day on. “Mom, I’m home!” I call out as I closed the door . “Hey, anyone home?” “Abby, we are in the kitchen . Come in here.” My mom and younger sister, Allie, are sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch . “So how was Leah’s?” “Fun as usual. I am suppose to meet her later to go to Charlie’s, if that is okay?" Charlie’s Diner is the local hot spot for teenagers to hang out on Saturday night. “Well , actually, I need a favor. I have an open house this afternoon and evening, and your father is working. Is there any way you can watch Allie? I will add a little to your allowance this week, since you will have to stay home on Saturday night. Leah can come over and hang out with you, if you want.” “It’s fine , Mom. We will rent a movie and pick up a pizza." My mom was a real estate agent, always on the go showing houses. My dad is an emergency room doctor who is constantly on call. I am used to watching my sister and giving up my plans. I know my parents love us, but I wish they would spend more time with us. Most of the time, it is just Allie and me. It irritates me sometimes, but I can’t really do anything about it. Once in my bedroom, I call Leah to give her the bad news. “So you want to come over and keep me company while I watch the beast ?" That is what I call my little sister sometimes. It is just a joke between Leah and me. “Of course, like I am going to Charlie’s without you . So you going to pick me up or do you want Connor to bring me over?" Leah and Connor share a Honda Civic so she ends up in my car a lot. “Well, my mom isn’t leaving until around six, so I was going to hang out here until then . Can Connor bring you, and then we will go to the movie store?” “Sounds like a plan . I will be there shortly." I head downstairs to let my mom know our plans, when Allie jumps out at me, “Can we rent Never Say Never ? Please Abby?" I nod and laugh because she has seen that Justin Bieber movie like ten times. “Mom, Leah is coming over and then we are heading to the movie store . Can you give me some money for movies and a pizza?” “Yeah, just look in my purse . I wish I could stay home with you guys tonight. But when the clients call I have to go. You girls be careful when you go out. I should be home around nine.” My mom makes comments like this all the time, but she never stays home with us . At least my mom is around some, my dad is always at the hospital. I know he has an important job, but I miss him. I wish we were more like Leah’s family. The Sparks are always going on family trips and eating supper together. They laugh and hug a lot. My family doesn’t. I know my parents love me, I just wish we were more like the Sparks. “Leah’s here! Leah’s here!” my little sister yells from upstairs . She must have been watching for her out the window. I open the front door just as she is getting out of the car. “Hey, I brought my sleeping bag . Will you carry it? I got my bag and pillow too." I jog out to the car and reach into the back seat to grab the Care Bear sleeping bag that Leah has had since elementary school. “Hey Klutzy,” Connor says to me as he helps me get the sleeping bag out. Klutzy is Connor’s nickname for me. It is just his way of reminding me that I am clumsy and fall down too much. He has witnessed my clumsiness on many occasions, and he never lets me forget it. “So , got a hot date tonight, loser?” I ask. I call him whichever insulting name comes to mind. “Not tonight . The guys are getting together at Charlie’s, just to hang out. You and Leah could come along, if you want." He always offers to take us along with him. He is actually a really great brother even if he does tease us constantly. “Babysitting Allie tonight, so we are staying here with a rented movie and pizza . You are welcome to hang out with us. I think Allie wants to rent the Justin Beiber movie. That sounds right up your alley.” I laugh. “What are you and Leah renting? Anything good? I usually end up watching movies with you two at our house on Saturday nights after the guys go home. So what movie are you getting?” “I just finished reading The Shining by Stephen King, so that is my vote. I know Leah hates horror, but she picked last time, so it should be my pick.” “ The Shining , are you kidding? Are you sure I picked last time?” Leah whines. “Yes, Leah you picked one of the Twilight movies last time remember? You were drooling over Edward Cullen, “I smirk. “ The Shining , really. I didn’t know you liked Stephen King or horror. I love it.” Connor says out the open door. “I haven’t seen that movie since ninth grade. Hey, if the guys’ thing gets done early, can I come hang out and watch the movie with you two?” “Really? You want to hang out with us on a Saturday night? You must be desperate for entertainment." I laugh. “Sometimes I just don’t want to be social. Is that okay with you Klutzy?” I nod as Leah grabs my arm and tugs me towards my house. “See you guys later!” Connor yells as he drives off. “And you say I drool over Edward Cullen. What was that you were doing just a second ago when my brother was talking to you? Oh, I know, drooling." Leah laughs and rolls her eyes. I blush because I know she is right. On weekends, Allie is allowed to stay up until eleven, but she rarely makes it that far. After my mom dragged her to bed, we start our movie. To set the mood, I turned off the lights and made some popcorn. “Come on Abby, turn on the lamp. I hate scary movies, you know that. This music is so creepy I can’t stand it,” Leah says like she is in pain. “Fine, fraidy cat. Turn on the light." Leah is reaching for the switch when there is a pounding on the door. We both scream, then we hear someone laughing. I peek out the window and see Connor standing at the front door hugging his ribs because he is laughing so hard. “That was not funny! You about gave us a heart attack,” I scowl at him. He tries to hold the laughter in but fails and begins again. “I wish I could have seen your faces. I bet that was hilarious,” he snickers as I smack his arm. “Connor! Why would you do that?” Leah says as she hits him repeatedly on the shoulder. “I hate you sometimes.” “Abby, who is at the door honey?” my mom calls out. “It’s just Connor, Mom. He’s leaving right now,” I say with a glare in his direction. “I knew you two were watching that movie. I could see the television through the window. The house was dark so I thought I would liven things up a bit. So, can I come in and watch the rest of the movie, or are you going to punish me by sending me away?” Connor asks with a frown. I open the door wider to allow him in the house. He heads toward the living room with a grin and jumps on the couch. Connor has been to my house several times with Leah, so he knows where everything is and makes himself at home. Leah plops down in the recliner and gets comfortable, which leaves me sharing the couch. “Move over, couch hog.”I tell Connor as I sit down and start the movie. Connor slides over closer to me. I glance at Leah but she is already closing her eyes so she doesn’t get scared. “So, you really like scary movies? I never knew that about you.” he whispered. Sinopsis Dan Terjemahan Novel Falling. By Adrian Gatton for MailOnline Updated: 18:47 BST, 12 September 2008. During the years following the 9/11 attacks, many stories emerged of triumph, tragedy and heroism. But one story stood out. Tania Head was one of only 19 people to survive above the point of impact in the South Tower at the World Trade Centre. Her story was triumphant and tragic. She was a survivor who, despite horrific burns, had escaped the falling towers, but she was a victim, too, in that she lost her fiance, Dave, when the North Tower collapsed. As Tania Head became president of the self-help group, the World Trade Centre Survivors' Network, her vivid account of miraculous escape and tragic loss convinced everyone - politicians, media, fellow survivors and the families of those who died in the attacks. Fake: Tania Head became a heroine for survivors of the 9/11 attacks, but her entire story was made up. But Tania wasn't who she said she was. And on the day of the attacks she wasn't even in ; she was thousands of miles away in Spain, sitting down to lectures at a prestigious business school in , where she was completing a masters in business administration. Her fellow students went on to work in industry, but in 2003, Tania Head, a member of one of Barcelona's richest families, flew to New York to adopt her carefully studied persona as a victim of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But why did she do it? To get the answers I had to search across the U.S., Spain and even Switzerland for clues. I quickly found that many doors in New York were shut, but I found copies of her copious emails and writings. The answer to Tania's hoax appeared to lie in her own past, a mysterious arm injury and her almost professional pride in fulfilling her role successfully. But, more disturbingly, she took advantage of the culture of 9/11, in a so-called 'hierarchy of suffering' that built up among the survivors. Thousands of ordinary people who had been at work that day in and around the Twin Towers, and who had escaped with their lives, were traumatised by what they saw - and riddled with guilt that they had survived when almost 3,000 died. Postal worker Cynthia Shepherd was one of them. She stood beneath the towers and watched as bodies rained down around her, exploding on impact. She vividly remembers one man in a suit still tightly clutching his briefcase, and a woman who seemed to have been blown from the building while still behind her desk. These are images she can never forget, and life has been difficult to rebuild since then. In 2003, survivors like Cynthia came together to form a self-help group, the World Trade Centre Survivors' Network. Gerry Bogacz, who escaped the North Tower with minutes to spare, was one founder, together with a young woman, Carrie Coen Sullivan. Devastating: Pictures of the Twin Towers' destruction horrified viewers all over the world, but Tania falsely claimed she had been at the top of them when the attacks occurred. They were all trying to make sense of the carnage, cope with survivor guilt and lobby for the future of . 'I felt so guilty for surviving,' Carrie told me. Gerry says that in the 9/11 community the victims' families and heroes - fireman, policemen - were rightly put first. But survivors were ignored. After all, they were 'the lucky ones'. Getting recognition was tough. But one woman helped transform their status. A woman called Tania Head made contact and, given the power of her story, began her infiltration of the group and was soon to become one of its leading lights. What immediately set her apart was the power of her story. She said she had been on the 78th floor of the South Tower when the second plane hit. Her vivid account of her miraculous escape and tragic loss of her fiancé captivated everyone in the survivors' network. Unlike many survivors, Tania was relatively explicit about what she saw on 9/11: 'I looked around, it was like a horror movie, people were mounted on each other, the smell of burnt skin and people's insides was gagging. 'I kept thinking about my fiancé, about our wedding, I wanted to wear that white dress and swear my love for him. Something gave me the strength to get up. I believe today that it was my fiancé on his way to heaven.' Fellow survivors were amazed by her capacity to cope and also with her go-getting attitude to giving survivors a voice. Some felt ashamed they could not match her energy. I soon had a hunch, confirmed by one long-standing member of the network, that Tania - who emerged as a profoundly lonely individual - was in search of love and friendship, using the network as a sort of catastrophe-smitten lonely hearts club. When I started reading her hundreds of emails and writings forensically, it was clear that her conversations and emails to the friends in the group were full of iconic imagery: white wedding dresses, wedding rings exchanged, last words, love letters ripped up and cast into the ocean. A US flag flies from a crane over the World Trade Centre site. An overweight, non-descript person, her writings showed an unrequited desire for romance. That powerful narrative captivated those who heard it. It felt as though her vocabulary for that day and the aftermath had been gleaned from talking to real survivors, assiduous research on the internet and in books and films about 9/11 (she didn't put a foot wrong on the factual details of that complex event). And perhaps from movies about New York and screwball romantic comedies (part of the grand narrative was how she had originally met Dave, her fiancé, while fighting over a yellow cab). As the towers collapsed, Tania shared a breathless moment with a fireman: 'A fireman took me in his arms. Outside, he handed me over to another fireman, who was carrying me towards the ambulance when the tower came crushing down. 'He found cover under a truck and covered me with his body. 'We were engulfed and soon it was pitch black and impossible to see or breath. 'We shared his mask until we were rescued. Next thing I remember is waking up in the hospital.' While thousands were dying, Tania appeared to be playing out the script from a Hollywood blockbuster. 'She had all the key elements from everyone else's story,' said Barbara Conrad, another survivor who knew Tania. 'She saw it, ran from it, survived it, had a lost husband. Everyone else had one element, she had all the elements, the perfect story.' She claimed to have sustained a massive burns injury on her arm. When she surfaced in 2003 in the 9/11 community, it appeared to have largely healed. Together with her big story, this was the key to the success of her imposture, as Dr Al Siebert, a psychologist who knew her, explained to me. 'Her right arm was scarred and burned and withered, functional but clearly badly damaged from burns, and with that look of her arm and what she was saying, she was on the floor where some of the plane fuel came through burning. 'Just automatically you're going to look at that and assume she's one of the people actually burned by the flames. You don't question that.' Gerry Bogacz says he had doubts that it was a fuel burn, but felt it inappropriate to question her. Unlike others, the survivors had not been given privileged access to the 9/11 site. 'We had to stand out around the big metal gates with all of the tourists taking their pictures and the people selling the horrible tacky merchandise of the attacks,' said Carrie. There was no place to grieve. Tania's next move was to get the survivors a visit to the site. It proved that she seemed to know everyone in New York, from the mayor down. At the same time as letting survivors into her private world of grief, Tania acted as a sort of Girl Friday for the network. She became indispensable to the network and would later become president. As her fame spread, families of victims wanted to meet Tania, including the family of 9/11 hero , whom Tania claimed had rescued her from the 78th floor. She told them in detail of one of the last moments she shared with their son before he died, helping others, in the collapsing towers. Rescue effort: Workers search through the rubble. 'Her story seemed to change,' said Gerry, as Tania didn't say much about him early on, yet later he became a big part of her story. No one seemed to pick up the anomalies in her story. She had claimed that she and Dave had a pet dog called Elvis. Yet when a friend visited her plush apartment near Central Park, there was no sign of a dog. People noticed, but didn't question her, when one day she said Dave was her fiancé, then her husband. Yet Tania's story was so moving that it led to the survivors finally being accepted as a group worthy of becoming a part of the 9/11 community - with a say in the big 9/11 decisions such as the memorial. This was sealed when, in 2005, she was chosen to guide the former mayor, , and present mayor, , and other dignitaries around the site. Barbara explains: 'Why was she chosen to give the tour to the mayor? Probably because her story was the most tragic yet triumphant of all. 'She made out that she helped other people along the way, that she was carrying her head high even though she had lost her husband, and had this permanent injury to her arm. So she was an inspiration to other people.' Until this point, Tania's quest had been for love and attention among an intimate group. But her story had taken on its own momentum, it was unstoppable. But despite the huge risks such publicity brought, that night Tania was exhilarated, telling survivors: 'For those who missed it, here's a short clip about it; notice the amount of cameras pointing at me and notice who I'm giving the tour to. 'Don't ask me what I said because I have no idea, I was freaking out, oh my God I was totally overwhelmed and I had to tell my story.' reporter Michael Daly, who had interviewed her, said she had been 'vetted by history'. Nobody could question her. Gerry recalls: 'Even though we tried to be egalitarian and equal, there's no question that this hierarchy of suffering does form and the stories that we were telling didn't seem to have as much impact as what she experienced.' Her story put her at the top. A woman looks at pictures of people who were missing in the aftermath of the attacks. By this stage, Barbara noted an 'arrogance' developing around Tania. She had fans ('Oh, look, that's Tania!' people would say in hushed tones). Once, during a car journey back from seeing relics of the Twin Towers in a hangar at JFK airport, she mused vaguely to one survivor: 'What if all this had just been a dream, and I was never even there?' The life of an impostor is a lonely one. Feeling comfortable, she was testing the boundaries of a confession to her new-found friends. Indeed, some survivors told me that if she had confessed to them she was a fake they would have forgiven her. Eventually, her story became so widely reported that wanted to interview her. When she avoided them they grew suspicious. Last year she was exposed in a front-page story by the paper. Tania had not been in New York on 9/11 at all. Her real name is Alicia Esteve Head. She did not work for an investment bank as she claimed, but had been attending classes in Barcelona. She was a serial liar, whose arm injury - depending on which of her stories you believe - may have been from a car or a riding accident. Or it may have been a disabling birth defect. Tania was from a rich Spanish family and had even gone to finishing school in Switzerland. She had been leading a double-life. Her father, Francisco Esteve Corbella, and her brother, Francisco Javier Esteve Head, perpetrated a £24m fraud a decade ago and were jailed. We could not find out whether she is estranged from her family, but certainly people who knew her in Barcelona were well aware of her propensity for lying. Survivors were left bewildered about their president. 'There was disbelief,' said Gerry. Carrie was ambivalent about Tania: 'I'm very torn. It's a hard thing to discredit it all, I mean she still did good for our organisation.' I did once see Tania, on a chilly New York evening. I was taking a look at her apartment block near Central Park, when suddenly she emerged. She was in the company of an elderly-looking woman with whom she boarded a bus and travelled to a nearby pizza parlour. Her clothes were unremarkable, she struck me as nondescript and underwhelming. This matched what I later heard, few people - even though they had been with her many times - could remember anything distinctive about her: her lipstick, her clothes. It was as if Tania Head was her story. Without that, there was little left. I didn't approach her on that occasion, but every time I tried after that she refused to be interviewed. I wondered what her explanation would be. Sadly, among the real survivors there are many who would happily swap their lives for Tania's. Cynthia Shepherd, who has been trying to repair her life since 9/11, put it this way: 'I think if Tania had asked me to trade, I would have traded with her. I would have loved her to have my suffering and my pain and I can have her life.' ADRIAN GATTON was the producer on Cutting Edge: The 9/11 Faker, shown on Channel 4. “Hey, apakah kamu baik-baik saja?” Aku melihatnya sesaat dan kemudian bernafas dalam-dalam. Apa aku perlu menceritakan kepadanya atau aku simpan saja sendiri? Apa yang akan Leah lakukan? Dan apakah ciuman tadi memiliki arti? “Yeah, aku baik-baik saja. Hanya memikirkan sesuatu, tidak penting.” Dia terus menatapku dengan masam. “Kamu menyembunyikan sesuatu dariku. Aku tahu, dan sesuatu sedang terjadi. Ceritakan lah,” perintahnya. Falling Bab 12. MV 4minute – Is It Poppin’? 4minute telah merilis video klip dari lagu mereka yang terbaru, “Is It Poppin’?” Falling Bab 10. “Abby, bangun lah sayang,” kata ibuku dengan menggoyangku supaya bangun. “Mom apa aku kesiangan?” “Well, sepertinya. Aku mematikan alarmmu tadi malam.
