Criteria for acceptance/rejection are based upon methodological rigor and not the funding resource or research findings.     Atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001 De arriba a abajo: el incendio del World Trade Center, sección colapsada del Pentágono, el vuelo 175 se estrella en el WTC 2, un bombero pide ayuda en la Zona Cero, se recupera un motor del vuelo 93 y, el vuelo 77 se estrella contra el Pentágono. Los atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001 (denominados comúnmente como 9/11 o, en España, con el numerónimo 11-S) fueron una serie de atentados terroristas suicidas cometidos aquel día en los Estados Unidos, por miembros de la red yihadista Al Qaeda mediante el secuestro de aviones de línea para ser impactados contra varios objetivos y que causaron la muerte a cerca de 3000 personas y a otras 6000 heridas, así como la destrucción del entorno del World Trade Center en Nueva York y graves daños en el Pentágono, en el Estado de Virginia, siendo el episodio que precedería a la guerra de Afganistán y a la adopción por el Gobierno estadounidense y sus aliados de la política denominada Guerra contra el terrorismo. Los atentados fueron atribuidos a diecinueve miembros de la red yihadista Al-Qaeda, divididos en cuatro grupos de secuestradores, cada uno de ellos con un terrorista piloto que se encargaría de pilotar el avión una vez ya reducida la tripulación de la cabina. Los aviones de los vuelos 11 de American Airlines y 175 de United Airlines fueron los primeros en ser secuestrados, siendo ambos estrellados contra las dos torres gemelas del World Trade Center, el primero contra la torre Norte y el segundo poco después contra la Sur, provocando que ambos rascacielos se derrumbaran en las dos horas siguientes.
