    Proposed Dundee Local Development Plan Development Sites Assessment October 2012 Proposed Dundee Local Development Plan Development Site Assessment Information This document has been prepared to identify the development sites for inclusion in the Proposed Dundee Local Development Plan 2014. The document has been prepared in partnership with the Key Agencies and other stakeholders to provide a detailed assessment of the development potential of each site. The sites are made up of those: • carried forward from the Dundee Local Plan Review 2005; • identified in the Housing Land Audit; • Dundee City Council owned sites which have become surplus to requirements or scheduled for demolition and clearance work; • identified as part of ongoing physical regeneration works or other Council activities; • nominated by developers and landowners, including sites identified via a call for sites consultation process in late 2010 and through the consultation exercise for the Main Issues Report in 2011, and; • others brought to the attention of the Council over the period of the preparation of the Proposed Plan. The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) process and the Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA) have been used to assess the environmental impacts of implementing the Plan's preferred spatial strategy. The SEA and HRA have assisted in identifying the most appropriate locations for development in terms of potential impacts on the environment. The site assessment results contained in this document are part of this process and have helped to ensure that the decisions on individual sites were not taken in isolation but considered a range of planning and environmental considerations and the potential cumulative effects of the developments proposed.

    Friends of Dundee Law Welcome pack With its breath taking views across the city, historical features and tranquil woodland walks, the Law is a special place, treasured by Dundonians of all ages. The Dundee TWIG project agrees that the Law is a fantastic green space and feel that local people should have a greater involvement in what happens on the Law and play a vital role in its management and development. In order to help local people become more involved in positive action on the Law, we are looking to form a Friends of Dundee Law group. Anyone with an interest in the Law is welcome to join the group which will be supported by the Council’s Environment Department and Community Officers. To kick start the project, Forestry Commission Scotland have provided a grant through the Community Seedcorn Fund. This will support the group’s activities and events throughout the first year. Additionally, the Environment Department are currently putting together a Law Masterplan. This will contain an array of proposed environmental improvements i.e. path & steps restoration and woodland management, and also enhancing the heritage of the site for the public to enjoy. Developers have to entice people to buy one of their properties rather than those offered by a rival. Who would want to live in Scouringburn when they could live in Well Road. Paris led the way by naming streets after royalty, national heroes and victorious battles. Windsor, Richmond, Osborne , are all probably named for the royal connection, whereas Dalhousie Terrace, Shaftesbury Road, Hyndford Street and Terrace all have a political connection. Many streets get their name from the lands on which they were built: Seafield, Westfield, Hawkhill, Springfield, Ryehill, Hermon Hill A document dated 26 October, 1620 states "... from five acres of arable land lying in the West field of Dundee, holding of St James Chaplainry..." In 1665 the Lands of Westfield were acquired by the Hospital Fund from the Trustees of Graham of Claverhouse, including "that aker of land called the Marmaiden Pot , lying in the Seafield". Marmaidenpot was roughly on the site of Airlie Terrace. For sale - range of dwelling-houses and about 3 roods of land situate at Seafield. The houses are all newly built, substantially finished and laid out in the most convenient manner to accommodate genteel families.
