Outback, rainforest, beaches: NSW has stunning natural attractions

A world of natural marvels and wilderness experiences can be found in the 867 national parks and reserves located around NSW. From white-sand beaches to pristine rainforest and the expansive outback, NSW offers a snapshot of ’s most diverse nature experiences in the one State.

NSW has a well-deserved reputation for conservation and nature experiences. The State’s record of preserving its natural habitats contributed to being named recently as host city for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUNC) World Parks Congress, to be held in November this year. More than 3,000 leading environmental minds from 160 countries will attend the conference at Sydney Olympic Park to discuss issues affecting the world’s 200,000 national parks.

In the heart of Sydney, The Royal Botanic Gardens, founded in 1816, plays its part in botanical conservation work.
