GENERAL NOTICE 2020-GN-020 Effective Date: 2/13/2020 Expiration Date: 12/31/2020 Julie Kirschbaum Director of Transit OPERATOR UNIFORMS for 9163 TRANSIT OPERATORS We are proud of the integrity and professionalism of our operators and the Muni uniform is a symbol of your pride, purpose and performance. The uniform enhances the positive image of SFMTA employees and is required while on duty. Beginning February 15, 2020 and until March 15, 2020 (thirty days), Dispatchers, Managers, Street and Rail Supervisors will be reviewing Operators for the proper wearing of the uniform. They will identify any item being worn that is not approved or in proper condition. If you’re contacted and told to make corrections, please cooperate and address this feedback. After the thirty days you will be expected to wear only the official uniform, as described below. Failure to comply may lead to progressive discipline imposed for non-compliance. 2.6 Personal Appearance NEW Rule: The proper wearing of the official SFMTA- Muni Transit Operator’s uniform is required while on duty for all 9163 Transit Operators. NEW Rule: The mandatory SFMTA-Muni Operator’s Uniform shall consist of the following minimum items: • Uniform Jacket/Foul Weather Jacket – (Weather Dependent) Black with ID# sewn on the right-hand sleeve • Safety Vest or High Visibility Reversable Jacket- To be worn as required. • Uniform Shirt (buttoned) or Polo Shirt – Grey with ID# sewn on the right-hand sleeve sleeve • Uniform Trousers/Skirt/Shorts -- Grey • Safety Shoes/Boots – Must be leather closed toe, black, slip resistant with a sole puncture resistance that can withstand a minimum nail penetration force of 270 pounds. (Rail Operators may wear safety boots) Optional Uniform Items are the following: • Uniform Beret/Baseball Cap - Black • Uniform Tie – Red or Black (If not worn, only the collar button of the shirt may be unbuttoned) • TWU 250A Jacket - TWU 250A elected representatives may wear this jacket while on duty provided that their employees ID Badge is worn in display on exterior of the jacket. [Page 1 of 2] • TWU 250A Jackets - Can be worn by Operators that have been awarded the jacket as an “Operator of the Month” Honoree. These jackets are not to be worn over the SFMTA uniform while operating any SFMTA vehicle. (Can be draped on back of seat). Uniforms are to be worn clean, well maintained and unwrinkled. Uniform garments are made available only from our authorized Vendor. When you place an order for your uniform garments and are notified that your order is ready for pick up, it is your responsibility to pick up your order at the Vendor’s. Garments purchased with unauthorized “Muni” logos, sports team logos, mode images, different colors, etc.; and that are not provided by our authorized Vendor as part of the official uniform are not allowed. (example: The grey T-shirt with the new SFMTA logo is not part of the uniform.) If you need uniform garments or guidance on the “Official Uniform” proper wear, please contact your Division Manager for assistance.
