Welcome Welcome Message from the CEO of Beckfoot Trust: David Horn

Thank you for expressing an interest in joining one of the schools within the Beckfoot Trust. We really appreciate it. Beckfoot Trust is a cross phase Multi Trust established in 2013. We have steadily built up our Trust to nine schools crossing secondary, primary and special sectors. We educate young people from 3 to 19. Our aim is to create a group of remarkable schools in Bradford delivering outcomes for learners that will place each school within the top 20% of similar schools nationally for progress made. We are all about aspiration and never accepting second best. We are creating schools with a very distinctive culture and ethos centred on every student enjoying learning and expecting success. We have sought to describe the culture that we are creating in our schools within the attached ‘Remarkable Learning Environment’ vision document. Please have a read.

We believe that comprehensive education is unparalleled if done well. Our students therefore reflect the community they are located in. We believe that our students, regardless of starting point, can achieve amazing things. We never give up on any child.

We are excited by the potential of our Trust to improve our schools. The power of schools working in collaborative partnership is the opportunity to share and learn from one another. It is refreshing. Our recent Trust Conference (January 18) was attended by over 700 delegates from our teaching and associate staff. We all shared practice and learnt from one another. We are fed up of schools working in isolation and in competition. Our Trust is about the collective development of ideas. It is about networking, learning from one another and sharing. It is about identifying the best idea and then implementing it. We are obsessed with finding the best solutions to curriculum, teaching, personal development, behaviour and welfare. We believe in the power of great leadership. We are all leaders.

The Trust values its staff. We want to be the Employer of Choice in the area. We train many of our future teachers through our School Direct programme. We have excellent NQT and RQT programmes. We offer excellent conditions of service and are obsessed with finding ways to reduce teacher and staff workload. We want to retain talent. Our leadership development programmes are very highly regarded and are available to staff at all stages in their career.

It is important to stress that our Trust has a hard edge. We make no apology for that. We expect to be successful quickly and then to sustain it. We have an absolute belief that the model we have collectively developed as a group of schools will make this MAT one of the most successful in the country.

There is an amazing momentum developing across the Trust. We are already having significant impact in all our schools. I think our students, parents and staff identify with our moral purpose. We are trying to create something remarkable in Bradford. We are trying to tackle social inequality, break down community barriers, and demonstrate that schools are strengthened by working in partnership rather than in isolation.

We are looking to appoint people who share our values and want to develop their career with the Trust. We want to appoint genuine educationalists, who put our students first, are generous in character, have great ideas, want to learn and care. We look forward to receiving your application.

If you have any questions or would like to visit the school or Trust, please email: [email protected]

Once again, thank you for expressing an interest in joining us.

David Horn February 2018

Welcome to Beckfoot Allerton Primary School & Nursery

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in our school. I hope you find this additional information useful.

Beckfoot Allerton Primary School and Nursery is situated in Allerton on the outskirts of Bradford. We are an oversubscribed 2 form entry school. We were judged outstanding by OFSTED at the two previous inspections. In September 2016, we joined the Beckfoot Trust and are excited to be part of this. We serve a diverse community with which we have excellent relationships. In a recent parent survey, more than 96% of parents said they would recommend our school to other parents.

I was appointed Headteacher in September 2017 and was delighted to be asked to lead this great school. Having already worked at Beckfoot Allerton for five years, I know what a very special place it is. The Beckfoot Allerton team is highly motivated, passionate about making a difference and committed to playing a part in our school’s journey. A culture of innovation, collaboration and support runs through our school. As a teacher you will be instrumental in helping to further embed this culture. A key part of the role will be to provide outstanding teaching and inspire students in their learning.

We have high aspirations for all our pupils regardless of their background or personal circumstances. The pupils at Beckfoot Allerton are amazing and they love coming to school. Pupils wear their SCARF with pride and talk about how they take it with them when they leave us to go to secondary school. Work is underway to further develop our curriculum and to ensure it is broad, balanced and meaningful to all our pupils in all year groups. There are also plans to further develop the use of our outdoor space to enhance the curriculum, including through Forest Schools. We want our curriculum to help pupils find their voice and their place in the world.

There have been some truly magical moments at Beckfoot Allerton this year, including the first ever Great Allerton Bake Off which saw 475 pupils bake biscuits in our school cooking kitchen over the course of a week and the school’s transformation into Hogwarts for December ‐ with live owls!

There is no substitute for visiting a school in person. If you are interested in this post, please do contact us to arrange a time to visit. We would love to show you round. We think Beckfoot Allerton is a very special place and I am sure you will agree!

Yours faithfully

Kate Horton Headteacher
