The Department of the Navy is indebted to the thousands of selfless and faithful Society volunteers who devote hundreds of thousands of hours each year providing financial assistance, money management training, emergency travel arrangements, budget-for-baby workshops, and thrift shops - all in support of Sea Service families around the globe. I also offer my sincere ‘’thank-you” to the many donors, corporations, and civic organizations who support the Society’s work through contributions, estate gifts, allotments from active duty and retiree pay checks, workplace giving programs, matching gifts and fundraising events. Your faithfulness and generosity make a significant difference in the quality of life, Sincerely, financial well-being, and operational readiness of our Fleet and Force. I’m pleased to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society for their superb Ray Mabus performance and mission accomplishment in 2015. We take great pride in their service and accomplishments. In 2015, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society continued its long-standing tradition of ensuring that our most valuable assets - our people - are well taken care of. As we meet the demands of today and prepare for the challenges of the future, the Society’s support is critical to assisting those in need and boosting morale throughout our ranks. Over the past year, a dedicated team primarily made up of volunteers provided $45 million in financial assistance for 57,833 cases involving our warriors and their loved ones. The support the NMCRS offers by way of financial, casualty, educational, and family assistance significantly contributes to the operational success of our Corps. On behalf of all Marines and their families, I congratulate the NMCRS on another outstanding year of support. We are grateful for all of the NMCRS employees, volunteers, and contributors who unfailingly serve and support our military and our Nation. All the best for continued success. You are the heart and soul of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and your support has strengthened our Navy team in measurable ways. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society has been a mainstay of our Navy’s mission readiness for well over a century, both at home and abroad. As just some examples, the Society provides a financial lifeline when an unforeseen crisis hits, like emergency travel or vehicle repairs. As well, the Society’s registered nurses visit the homes of new mothers, elderly retirees, widows and widowers, and military families with medically challenged loved ones. Many volunteers serve in Society offices around the globe, but many also serve behind the scenes running thrift shops, hand-crafting baby blankets, or performing critical administrative duties. The simple fact is that every volunteer contributes in some meaningful way to support our Navy mission. I am proud of the legions of selfless Navy-Marine Corps Sincerely, Relief Society volunteers who have dedicated
