Business Professional Dress Code The way you dress can play a big role in your professional career. Part of the culture of a company is the dress code of its employees. Some companies prefer a business casual approach, while other companies require a business professional dress code. BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE FOR MEN Men should wear business suits if possible; however, blazers can be worn with dress slacks or nice khaki pants. Wearing a tie is a requirement for men in a business professional dress code. Sweaters worn with a shirt and tie are an option as well. BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE FOR WOMEN Women should wear business suits or skirt-and-blouse combinations. Women adhering to the business professional dress code can wear slacks, shirts and other formal combinations. Women dressing for a business professional dress code should try to be conservative. Revealing clothing should be avoided, and body art should be covered. Jewelry should be conservative and tasteful. COLORS AND FOOTWEAR When choosing color schemes for your business professional wardrobe, it's advisable to stay conservative. Wear "power" colors such as black, navy, dark gray and earth tones. Avoid bright colors that attract attention. Men should wear dark‐colored dress shoes. Women can wear heels or flats. Women should avoid open‐toe shoes and strapless shoes that expose the heel of the foot. GOOD HYGIENE Always practice good hygiene. For men adhering to a business professional dress code, this means good grooming habits. Facial hair should be either shaved off or well groomed. Clothing should be neat and always pressed. -

Dressing for the Times: Fashion in Tang Dynasty China (618-907) BuYun Chen Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY 2013 © 2013 BuYun Chen All rights reserved ABSTRACT Dressing for the Times: Fashion in Tang Dynasty China (618-907) BuYun Chen During the Tang dynasty, an increased capacity for change created a new value system predicated on the accumulation of wealth and the obsolescence of things that is best understood as fashion. Increased wealth among Tang elites was paralleled by a greater investment in clothes, which imbued clothes with new meaning. Intellectuals, who viewed heightened commercial activity and social mobility as symptomatic of an unstable society, found such profound changes in the vestimentary landscape unsettling. For them, a range of troubling developments, including crisis in the central government, deep suspicion of the newly empowered military and professional class, and anxiety about waste and obsolescence were all subsumed under the trope of fashionable dressing. The clamor of these intellectuals about the widespread desire to be “current” reveals the significant space fashion inhabited in the empire – a space that was repeatedly gendered female. This dissertation considers fashion as a system of social practices that is governed by material relations – a system that is also embroiled in the politics of the gendered self and the body. I demonstrate that this notion of fashion is the best way to understand the process through which competition for status and self-identification among elites gradually broke away from the imperial court and its system of official ranks. -

An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2016, with ~840,000 of them in the United States alone. Traditional risk factors, such as smoking, hypertension, and diabetes, are well discussed. In recent years, chronic kidney disease (CKD) has emerged as a risk factor of equal importance. Patients with mild-to-moderate CKD are much more likely to develop and die from CVDs than progress to end-stage renal failure. -

Hafez, Harald Wack, Brandon Young, Dana Ferraris, and Thomas Lectka* Contribution from the Department of Chemistry, Johns Hopkins UniVersity, 3400 North Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21218 Received February 5, 2002 Abstract: We report practical methodology for the catalytic, asymmetric synthesis of â-lactams resulting from the development of a catalyzed reaction of ketenes (or their derived zwitterionic enolates) and imines. The products of these asymmetric reactions can serve as precursors to a number of enzyme inhibitors and drug candidates as well as valuable synthetic intermediates. We present a detailed study of the mechanism of the â-lactam forming reaction with proton sponge as the stoichiometric base, including kinetics and isotopic labeling studies. Stereochemical models based on molecular mechanics (MM) calculations are also presented to account for the observed stereoregular sense of induction in our reactions and to provide a guidepost for the design of other catalyst systems. Rachel George " 3 weeks ago # Bossy, Interviews, The Bosses Since the release of the How to Be a Gentleman etiquette book by Enitan Bereola II five years ago, men have often battled with the ideal of being the ultimate gentlemen.What to say. How to say it. When to say it. How to behave. But many leave out one thing, what to wear; what is the “gentleman look?” Darion Weatherspoon, a Clark Atlanta University student athlete, plans to help other men find their “gentleman look” on and off the field. His hands are good for intercepting passes and stitching loose hems. The Las Vegas native plays the defensive back position for the Clark Atlanta University Panthers; learning culture and tradition from an HBCU perspective while juggling practice and his course studies in Fashion Design. He was groomed to be a successful gentleman, made to speak with poise, walk with dignity and to never embarrass himself. “Being a gentleman is not all about what you wear, it’s a lifestyle,” he explained. His acquired love for fashion came in the seventh grade, styling his typical collar shirt uniform with sweater vests and bow ties. Fun fact: he has over 40 bowties. “As men, we are a dominant force and we have to look like such,” he notes. He is self-restrained and full of excitement and knowledge, including all the makings of a true renaissance man at 21-years-old. He buys his clothing from Goodwill, Salvation Army, Lucky Exchange and any other unique thrift shop in Atlanta, adding his own alternation and accessories. -
