È evidente la convinzione che l’impegno a testimoniare la comunione, in vista della missione di annunciare il Vangelo e formare il Popolo di Dio, passa attraverso la conoscenza e la creazione di rapporti umani e spirituali con tutti coloro che professano la fede nel Signore Gesù. A tale scopo l’annuario intende proporre storie di ministri di Dio, persone e istituzioni, immagini e rappresentazioni di luoghi, specie di chiese, i progetti e le realizzazioni di associazioni e movimenti ecclesiali. L’ultimo annuario diocesano, in formato cartaceo, risale al 2010, un’eternità per la velocità dei cambiamenti dei nostri giorni. Speriamo di tenere aggiornato il presente con maggiore assiduità. Esprimo la comune gratitudine ai compilatori: mons. Roberto Bizzarri, cancelliere diocesano, e la dott.ssa Elisabetta Lomoro, responsabile dell’ufficio comunicazioni sociali della Diocesi. Hanno dedicato fatica, attenzioni e tempo nella ricerca dei dati, nella verifica e nelle correzioni delle schede. XII; Italian: Pio XII), born Eugenio Marìa Giuseppe Giovanni Pacelli (2 March 1876 – 9 October 1958), reigned as Pope, head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City State, from 2 March 1939 until his death in 1958. Before election to the papacy, Pacelli served as secretary of the Department of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs, papal nuncio and Cardinal Secretary of State, in which capacity he worked to conclude treaties with European and Latin American nations, most notably the Reichskonkordat with Nazi Germany. The concordat of 1933 which saw the self-destruction of the Centre (Catholic) Party, on the orders of the Holy See, and Pius' leadership of the Catholic Church during World War II, including his "decision to stay silent in public about the fate of the Jews",[1] remain the subject of controversy. After the war Pius XII advocated peace and reconciliation, including lenient policies towards Axis and Axis-satellite nations. The Church experienced severe persecution and mass deportations of Catholic clergy in the Eastern Bloc.

    The Holy See ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI TO THE SEMINARY COMMUNITY OF THE CAPRANICA COLLEGE Consistory Hall Friday, 19 January 2007 Your Eminence, Venerable Brothers, Monsignor Rector, Dear Students of the Capranica College, I am pleased to welcome you just before the Feast of your Patroness, St Agnes. I greet you all with affection, starting with the Cardinal Vicar, Camillo Ruini, and Archbishop Pio Vigo, who form the Episcopal Commission in charge of the College. I greet the Rector, Mons. Ermenegildo Manicardi. I extend a special welcome to you, dear students, who belong to the community of the oldest ecclesiastical college of Rome. Five hundred and fifty years have passed since that 5 January 1457 when Cardinal Domenico Capranica, Archbishop of Fermo, founded the College that was named after him. He bequeathed to it all his property and his palace near Santa Maria in Aquiro, so that it could house young students called to the priesthood. The newborn institution was the first of its kind in Rome; initially reserved for young Romans and young men from Fermo, it later extended hospitality to students from other regions of Italy and of different nationalities. Cardinal Capranica died less than two years later, but his foundation had already started on the way it has followed until today, undergoing only 10 years of closure from 1798 to 1807 during the so-called Roman Republic. Two Popes studied at the Capranica: Pope Benedict XV, whom you rightly consider "Parens alter" because of the special affection he always felt for your house, and then, if for a shorter period, the 2 Servant of God Pius XII.

Grabowski, Ph.D. The last fifty years have seen an impressive revival of interest in virtue ethics. Many prominent figures, including Catholic theologians, have contributed to the restoration of the pivotal role of virtues in Christian moral life. Unfortunately, Wojtyła/John Paul II is rarely considered one of them. The Polish philosopher and Pope is often credited with reconnecting Scriptures and philosophy with morals, but not with using virtues as a central category for moral reflection. This dissertation argues that such an interpretation is inaccurate. A careful analysis of Wojtyła/John Paul II’s writings suggests that there is, in fact, virtue ethic operative in his work. One can come to the conclusion that the key elements of virtue ethics are essential to the overall coherence of his moral system. The study offers a comparison of the traditional account of virtue theory, as developed by Aristotle and Aquinas, with the writings of Wojtyła/John Paul II. It identifies the basic ideas and concepts which are considered essential for the building of comprehensive virtue ethics, and then determines their presence in the writings of the Polish philosopher and Pope.
