R.C.I.A.: Tuesday Night for information call Deacon Bob ~FROM THE PASTORS DESK~ “Harry Potter and the Right Side of the Boat” Before she became the best-selling novelist of our time, J.K. Rowling’s life was a train wreck. Seven years after completing university, her short-lived marriage imploded, she was a lone parent, jobless, and as poor as possible in modern Britain without being homeless. But, in her 2008 commencement address at Harvard, she said that there were actually benefits from failing, that there was wisdom to be gained from facing such dark hopelessness. For J.K. Rowling, “failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was any- thing other than what I was and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. Failure taught me things about myself that I have learned no other way.” In today’s Gospel, the Risen Jesus makes his presence known to Peter and his fishing companions by calling them to cast their nets off the “right” side of the boat. Despite their doubts and frustrations, they do as Jesus instructs and end up with an incredible catch. In the midst of our own disappointments and failures, our fears and doubts, the Risen Jesus challenges us to venture out from the tombs we dig for ourselves and “go fishing”—and keep fishing on the “right side” of the boat where gratitude and humility will secure a surprising catch. When we act out of love, when we put aside our own fears and expectations for the sake of others, when we seek to imitate the selfless compassion of the Risen One, we will discover how strong and indestructible our own “nets” are; we will realize a “catch” of good things despite the hopelessness of the night, the fear of the unknown deep, the weight of the catch we struggle to haul to shore. #00'#,"1Q &0'12'1'1#,X,"##"#'1'1#,X 15#!-,2',3#-30!#*# 02'-,-$12#0Q7-3,"0#',4'2#1 7#1312-!-+#-32-$2-+ 15#.32-30V 1#*4#1',2-T#-+#2'+#1'21$#0Q"-3 2Q"'*70-32',#T#-+#2'+#1'2_1"##.!7,'!'1+-0!-,12,2,#%2'4#',$*3V #,!#5#&4#,"$-0!#-,-2T#-+#2'+#1'21(312*!)-$20312',%',(-"Q1'$5#!,"- #22#0(- 2&#, 2&#*+'%&27T)-"71(-1.#*',4'2#1**-$312-*#2%-,"!12-30,#212&#-2'"#,"20312',#131,"2&# !2!&5#5'** 0',%',T 30',%2&'1+-,2&-$.0'*5#0#$-!31',%-,-30.0'1&!#,131T+#&4#,-2'!#"$-*)15&-0#,-20#%V '12#0#"1.0'1&'-,#01Q!&'*"0#,5&-0#,-20#%'12#0#"Q.0'1&'-,#015&-&4#+-4#"57,"0#12'**0#!#'4',% #,4#*-.#1$0-+#2T,20'!)T+#5,22-1#04#-30.0'1&+-12#$$'!'#,2*7R 325#,##"7-30&#*.1-.*#1#$'**-32 7-30!#,131$-0+1,"0#230,2&#+1/3'!)*71.-11' *#T )&,)12-**5&-22#,"#"-30'4',#/#0!7#3,"7##04'!#27.T+T1#231**120'4#2- #+#0!'$3*1 (-"'1+#0!'$3*2-31T !""#"$%12#0$**-5#0$%'$2$$0-+$!,,$31)-$5,$6&,)1%'4',% 4# *#11#"5##)Q 0T/')# Third Sunday of Easter April 10, 2016 Blessed Mother Candle in memory of SUNDAY April 10, 2016 $1,&($66,'< Third Sunday of Easter 8:30 AM Aunt Helen Knapik By:Rusbacky Nieces & Nephews St. Joseph Candle 11:00 AM Richard Sauline !!!!!! in memory of !!! SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 9:45-10:45 AM IN THE PARISH CENTER Come, hear the amazing story of a tragic accident, a prayerful request for a miracle of healing, and a beatification of a Sister told by Marcy and Jack Sebest (from Ursuline High School) and Sr. Joyce Candidi (from Youngstown Diocese). Many of us remember the drowning accident of young Jack Sebest, brother of Joe Sebest who was enrolled at our St. Patrick School. Soon the prayers went out for young Jack for a miracle to bring him safely out of a coma. Sr. Joyce and all the Oblate sisters prayed for Jack through the intercession of Mother Maria Teresa Casini, foundress of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Today, Jack is a senior at Ursuline High School and Mother Casini was beatified in October 2015. Please plan to join us as Marcie and Jack Sebest and Sr.
