Light brown coloured local stone as well as wooden blinds, are used. Large openings are designed in the living rooms and the rooms to allow the beneficial invasion of the sun and nature in the houses. The system of streets, sidewalks, pathways and outdoor stairs are constructed using pebbled bi- colours exterior floor coatings and forged cement. FINALLY The project has been designed in such a way so as to meet high standards of accommodation and subsistence. In addition, it can be converted to meet different needs. Inside the natural landscape of the most beautiful corner of Chalkidiki, lined with local stone to fit into the landscape and designed in an almost "Doric" order in a modern way, it has been created to fully satisfy all the needs of its future owner. CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI intro THE PROJECT The project is located two hundred meters above sea level and close to Kalandra and Poseidi,. It is a village built on a green hill with magnificent views of the bay below. Five blocks and a total of 32 two-storey houses consist the project on the hill of Kalandra. Blocks A, B, C and D have seven houses each, which are developed on two levels, ground and first floor, with a total area of 80,00m2. 45m2 on the ground floor and 35m2 on the first floor. The ground floor has a guest room, a living room with kitchen, a bathroom and a staircase that leads to the first floor. Upstairs, there are two rooms, a bathroom and a terrace overlooking the view. Block E, is located at the highest point and its six houses are about 97,00m2 each. The ground floor has a guest room, a living room with kitchen, a bathroom and a staircase, that leads to the first floor. The entrance to the houses is at the back, where there is also the parking space. At the front, the ground floor leads to large independent yards with amazing view low to the sea. The first floor has two rooms, a bathroom and a terrace also facing the view. The access to the village is on the west. Inside the project, there is a central ring road for cars and pedestrians, that leads to all Blocks. Paths and outdoor stairs start from the ring road and lead to the entrances of the houses. On the edge of the ring and by the courtyards, there are the parking spaces, two per property, among low and higher planting, in order for the presence of the cars to be as discreet as possible The green prevails in the project, within the private yards and the public spaces, consisting a continuation of the landscape. To the west and next to entrance- exit area, there is an open tennis court. In the southern part, there are two swimming pools, one for adults and one for children with sun beds and umbrellas, one for each house of the project. CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI intro KALANDRA Kalandra is a traditional village and seat of the homonymous community of the municipality of Kassandra Halkidiki. It is located southwest of the town of Kassandra in the west coast of the peninsula. Its population numbers 674 inhabitants. Most of them work in the fiedls of agriculture (olives, cotton, corn) and beekeeping, while an other important income source is tourism. The seaport of Kalandra, Posidi, is a very well organ ised touristic location, offering to the visitor cozy hotels, taverns and cafes-bars by the sea. The village was founded in the last Byzantine or during the Ottoman period. Kalandra is strongly linked to the ancient city of Mende. It kept unchanged the ancient toponyms, as that of the beach, which is still called Poseidio, Ionic expression of Poseidonio. Throughout the Ottoman period it was one of the twelve villages of the peninsula. In Kallandra are preserved parts of the wall of ancient Mende. Some important sights in Kalandra are the Temple of Poseidon, that is 4 km west of the village and nearby a lighthouse, built in 1864. There are also two important Christian churches. The Church of our Lady built in 1219, where important frescoes are preserved and the church of the Assumption, which is a basilica built in 1850. CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI intro CHALKIDIKI Chalkidiki is an awesome place, which stands out in the already enchanting Greek countryside and is a perfect destination for any traveler. The visitor will discover there the breathtaking natural beauty on the mountains, or on its coasts, unique archaeological sites like Ancient Olynthus, Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, and of course Mount Athos, insurmountable monument of Christianity that stands unaffected by time as a living museum of Byzantine civilization immersed in the virgin nature. Well developed in terms of tourism, with big high-standard hotels, espe cially in the first peninsula, the cosmopolitan Kassandra, traditional seaside hostels, small hidden treasures and marinas on the coasts of Sithonia. Chalkidiki holds many small earthly paradises for mountain lovers. In the hiking and mountain bike routes covered with pines, oaks, firs and chestnut, the neat air stimulates and rejuvenates, while in the many hidden sources you will find fresh,. cool water. The traditional hostels in Cholomontas and the other mountainous areas of Chalkidiki offer you the opportunity to enjoy the mountain while you are next to the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Also, during the summer season many areas of Chalkidiki host many remarkable art festivals. While focusing on the magic of music and the performing arts, outdoor theaters are hosting great events every summer. Countless unique beaches, almost all awarded with the blue flag, on a coastline of nearly 500 km await you in Chalkidiki to fascinate you. Along with these you will discover the well hidden "gems" of the region. According to legend, the legendary Battle of the Giants took place in Kassandra, the first peninsula of Chalkidiki. Today, Kassandra is one of the most modern resorts in the country. Here are some of the largest hotels in Greece, with high-class facilities such as golf courses, marinas, spas and renowned cuisines. Kassandra is replete with beaches organized or not. Potidaia, Afytos, Kallithea, Chaniotis, Kriopigi, Polychrono, Pefkochori, Paliouri, Poseidi, Siviri. Places with vibrant life and calm places away from loud noises and bustle. |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans 02 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans MASTERPLAN |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK A_GROUND FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK A_FIRST FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK B_GROUND FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK B_FIRST FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK C_GROUND FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK C_FIRST FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK D_GROUND FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK D_FIRST FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK E_GROUND FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans BLOCK E_FIRST FLOOR 0 1m 5m 10m |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans TYPICAL PLAN OF BLOCK A HOUSE_ALTERNATIVE 1_GROUND LEVEL SCALE 1:50 04 02 06 01 05 03 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans TYPICAL PLAN OF BLOCK A HOUSE_ALTERNATIVE 2_GROUND LEVEL SCALE 1:50 04 05 0605 06 01 02 03 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans TYPICAL PLAN OF BLOCK A HOUSE_1ST FLOOR LEVEL SCALE 1:50 01 02 02 03 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans TYPICAL PLAN OF BLOCK E HOUSE_GROUND LEVEL SCALE 1:50 07 02 06 01 03 05 04 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI plans TYPICAL PLAN OF BLOCK E HOUSE_1ST FLOOR LEVEL SCALE 1:50 02 03 03 02 01 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views 03 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BIRD’S EYE VIEW |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK A HOUSE_VIEW1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK A HOUSE_VIEW2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK B HOUSE_VIEW 1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK B HOUSE_VIEW 2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK B HOUSE_VIEW 3 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK C HOUSE_VIEW 1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK C HOUSE_VIEW 2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK C HOUSE_VIEW 3 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK D HOUSE_VIEW 1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK D HOUSE_VIEW 2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK D HOUSE_VIEW 2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK E HOUSE_VIEW 1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK E HOUSE_VIEW 2 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK E HOUSE_VIEW 3 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views BLOCK E HOUSE_VIEW 4 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior views POOL_VIEW 1 |CRYSTAL VILLAGE IN KALANDRA CHALKIDIKI exterior

Papadopoulos, Chair This research project examines the appearance and proliferation of some of the earliest cremation burials in Europe in the context of the prehistoric north Aegean. Using archaeological and osteological evidence from the region between the Pindos mountains and Evros river in northern Greece, this study examines the formation of death rituals, the role of landscape in the emergence of cemeteries, and expressions of social identities against the backdrop of diachronic change and synchronic variation. I draw on a rich and diverse record of mortuary practices to examine the co-existence of cremation and inhumation rites from the beginnings of farming in the Neolithic period

Abstract: Tick-borne diseases (TBDs) are recognized as a serious and growing public health epidemic in Europe, and are a cause of major losses in livestock production worldwide. This review is an attempt to present a summary of results from studies conducted over the last century until the end of the year 2020 regarding ticks, tick-borne pathogens, and tick-borne diseases in Greece. We provide an overview of the tick species found in Greece, as well as the most important tick-borne pathogens (viruses, bacteria, protozoa) and corresponding diseases in circulation. We also consider prevalence data, as well as geographic and climatic conditions. Knowledge of past and current situations of TBDs, as well as an awareness of (risk) factors affecting future developments will help to find approaches to integrated tick management as part of the ‘One Health Concept’; it will assist in avoiding the possibility of hotspot disease emergencies and intra- and intercontinental transmission.

First Announcement www.icd2019.gr Welcome Address Dear Colleagues and Friends, It is a distinct privilege and honor for me to be invited to serve as President of the ICD- European Section for the year 2018-2019 and to have the pleasure to host the 64th Annual Meeting of the European Section in my hometown, Thessaloniki Greece. Thessaloniki, which is also called the “nymph of Thermaic Gulf”, is the second largest city and port in Greece with about one million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, located in central Northern Greece at the northwestern corner of the Aegean Sea and in the vicinity of the beautiful resort area Chalkidiki. Thessaloniki is also Greece’s second major economic, industrial, commercial and political centre; it is a major transportation hub for Greece and southeastern Europe, notably through its port. Thessaloniki was founded in 315 BC by Cassander (Kassandros) and was named after his wife, a half-sister of Alexander the Great, Thessalonike. The city is counting nowadays 2333 years of history. It was an important metropolis during the Roman Empire period and the second largest and wealthiest city of the Byzantine Empire after Constantinople. It was conquered by the Ottomans in 1430, and passed from the Ottoman Empire to Greece on November 8, 1912. The city is renowned for its festivals, events, good food and vibrant cultural life in general and is considered to be Greece’s cultural capital.
