UNIT A -- CHAPTER TWO PROPHETS ARE THE BEST OF MANKIND 1. Explain how prophets were ordinary men. Prophets and messengers were all human beings. They were neither divine, nor or . For example caused the great flood in the time of Prophet Nuh that destroyed all of the evil disbelievers. b) to help them during times of danger or trouble. For example, Prophet Ibraheem was saved from the huge fire that was lit to burn him. c) to prove that the prophet is a true prophet. For example, Prophet Isa could heal the sick and raise the dead. Also Prophet Muhammad brought the Quran and challenged the eloquent to write one verse like it, but they failed. 5. They were the most moral and the most intelligent among their people. b) they usually came from well-known and highly respected families. Most prophets came from great lineage. c) Prophets had to possess strong personalities. Allah revealed to Prophet Nuh that He would drown all the disbelievers in a great flood. He ordered Prophet Nuh to build an ark in his waterless land. With complete faith and trust in Allah, he gathered the wood and started to build that historic ark. 8. Describe the safety and environment protection plan that Prophet Nuh followed after knowing that Allah will destroy the disbelievers. Prophet Nuh took a male and female pair of each kind of animal along with the believers on the ark. 9. Describe the exchange between Prophet Nuh and his disobedient son. “Ride with us on the ark and do not stay with the disbelievers. Become Muslim and come on board the ark,” Prophet Nuh cried. His son, told his father, “ I will resort to a mountain that will protect me from the water”. Nuh told his son, “Today there shall be no one to protect you from the torture of God, except for whomever God willed mercy”. The mountain like waved separated Nuh form his son who later drowned. 10. 1. What was the main course of action the Prophet took after Al-Hudaybiyah? After Al-Hudaybiyah, the Prophet felt that the climate was good for spreading the wonderful message of Islam further afield. The Prophet sent his messengers to almost all major tribes in Arabia calling them to Islam. Emissaries were sent out as far as Oman, Bahrain and Yamamah to introduce Islam to people across Arabia. 2. The king of Persia responded in a hostile manner. He tore the letter apart and spoke badly about the Prophet. He also sent to his ally, Bathan, the King of Yemen, to arrest Prophet Muhammad and bring him to his palace in shackles. When the Prophet found out about what Khusroe did, he said “O Allah destroy his kingdom. And this is exactly what happened. Khusroe's son revolted against his father, killed him and became the new king of Persia. 6. What did the King of Egypt say and do after he received the Prophet's letter? The king of Egypt was very kind and hospitable to the Prophet's letter and messenger, Hatib. He was sure that Muhammad could not be a liar or a magician , as others had accused him of. He promised to study the message of Islam and the Prophet-hood of Muhammad further. He wrote a nice letter to Prophet Muhammad in which he wrote, Peace be upon you. I read your letter and understood what you mentioned and call for. I know that there was a prophet yet to appear, but thought he would appear in . The king wrote a kind letter to Prophet Muhammad and provided the ships to transfer the Muslims from Abyssinia to Arabia.
