A Boise River: Songbird banding is scheduled roughly three times per month. The station is used into the fall, when banding events may occur more often. Upcoming dates include June 18, June 29, July 8, July 22 and July 29. Visitors are asked to register through ibo.boisestate.edu. Participation is free but donations are accepted. Visitors can arrive as early as 7 a.m. but even 8 a.m. is considered a good start time. Bird numbers tend to dwindle around 10 a.m. The site is across the road from the intersection of Idaho 21 and Warm Springs Avenue on the east end of Boise. Or, it’s right on the Boise River

Gunter, 4, is a 55-pound neu- tered male Ger- man wire-haired pointer mix. He is athletic, high energy, smart and loyal. He would be a great long- distance running partner and loves to play with all types of toys. Gunter is a bright boy, but he can be distracted by things around him and his inquisitive nature might frustrate a novice owner. He has spent the past several months being trained in the Inmate Dog Alliance Project of Idaho program and has made great strides. It will be important that his owner contin- ue his training and provide ample exercise and good direction. Gunter gets along very well with other dogs, but he is not as comfortable playing with smaller dogs. He does have a high prey drive and will need a home without cats or small animals.
