Many believe Queenborough is a great place to visit or better still to take up a permanent mooring. Queenborough’s ideal location provides a ‘safe haven’ and ready access to many destinations at all states of the tide. It is an ideal location for visiting London, Ramsgate, the Essex harbours and the Continent as well as being the entry harbour for the River Medway and the Medway Towns. For those wanting to explore locally Queenborough is a charming place to visit in its own right. The Swale with its many delightful under exploited creeks is a recognised centre and sanctuary for its wide variety of permanent and migrating bird life. Included in this is the sanctuary of Dead Man’s Island adjacent to the Harbour where Napoleonic prisoners from hulks moored in the Medway were hastily buried. Nearby, Stangate Creek, which was one of England’s original quarantine centres is a place that you can feel a million miles from the pressures of the modern rat-race. Despite its peaceful setting Queenborough’s moorings are within a short distance of fast and direct road and rail transport links. Canny boat owners, those in the know, are taking advantage of these links to avoid the expense and uncertainty of taking their vessels to London, instead they are staying with us and travelling by road and rail. The A249 dual carriageway links directly to the motorway network while the nearby Queenborough Railway Station provides a ready link to the fast train service to London and beyond. Over the last ve years, with the support of national and local governments, Queenborough Fishery Trust, Queenborough Town Council, the local community and supporters, the Harbour has beneted from many changes with improved mooring maintenance, new moorings, the Sir Robin Knox Johnson pontoon, refurbished walkway and a more frequent free trot boat service. A further government grant from the Coastal Communities Fund is enabling a further expansion of the Harbour moorings which started in 2018. The Harbour Team welcomes you to Queenborough Thank you for your support.
