A total of 13 players, including, a pair of long stick midfielders due to a tie in the voting, were selected by position to the Preseason All- WILA squad, which was also selected by a vote of the coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own players. Dominican’s representation on the squad is led by 2013 WILA Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year Cody Bernstein, one of the three attackmen selected. He is joined on the recognition list by Penguin teammate Kevin Powers, a First Team All-WILA midfielder in 2013, and his brother Jake, selected at midfield. Powers was honored at the attack position this year. Colorado Mesa had a player selected at nearly every position as Michael Beimford, a First Team All-WILA attackman last season, returns for his junior season. Behind him amongst the three midfield selections to the squad is Kade Robinson, a Second Team All-WILA pick in 2013. The Mavericks also have two of the three honorees at the defender position in Johnny Nitti and Eric McCosker. Meanwhile, in goal, senior Brad Brandenburg returns for his senior season after earning the association’s Co-Defensive Player of the Year honor last season. Zach Bullett rounds out the Mavericks’ representation at long stick midfielder, sharing the plaudits with Adams State’s Kyle Post, a returning First Team All-WILA pick at the position.
