The Grizzlies scored five man-up goals in as many opportunities during two games last week and rank fifth in the national statistics for man-up offense (.545) this season... Top Offensive Player: Blake Foerster (#11, Fr., A, 5-9, Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill HS) Foerster led the Hawks with four points on tow goals and two assists in their 13-11 WILA win at Adams State on Sunday (Mar. 15). He scored RU’s first two goals and assisted on two goals in the second period. He also claimed two ground balls. He has scored 14 points on six goals and eight assists this season. Top Defensive Player: Alex Pfeil — WILA Defensive Player of the Week Rockhurst Team Notes: The Hawks claimed their first WILA away win in program history on Sunday (Mar. 15), defeating Adams State 13-11... The Hawks, who joined the association this year, had dropped both games of a home-and-home non-conference series with Adams State in their inaugural 2014 campaign... The Hawks have outscored their five opponents by a combined 84-33 margin this season... Winning by an average of 10.20 goals per outing, the Hawks continue to be ranked second nationally for scoring margin... They are also ranked second for scoring offense (16.80)... They also rank third in the national statistics for both offensive points per game (25.00) and clearing percentage (.934) while ranking seventh in both faceoff percentage (.672) and ground balls per game (40.40)... McCosker, slated to play as a long stick midfielder this season, earned First Team All-WILA honors last year as a defender after recording 25 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers to go along with three goals and two assists. The 6-foot senior hails from Concord, Calif. The 2015 campaign, which is the WILA’s fifth, will begin a new era for the association as the two California-based programs (Dominican University and Notre Dame de Namur University) decided to leave the organization following the 2014 campaign. Additionally, Adams State and Colorado Mesa both have new head coaches in Jason Levasque and Vince Smith, respectively. CSU-Pueblo will be guided by Sean Blair in the ThunderWolves’ initial season while Kevin Kelley will guide Rockhurst after founding the Hawk program last year. Although the faces may be new, the association schedule format and championship determination methods will remain the same, as once again, the WILA championship will be determined by a 6-game association regular season schedule in which each of the four members will play each opponent twice - home and away.
