Creator Harmon, Ernest Nason, 1894-1979 Title Ernest Nason Harmon Records Dates 1912-2016, Bulk: 1950-1965 Extent 21 Boxes (21 linear feet)

About the Collection

This collection consists primarily of files created and accrued by Ernest Harmon during his tenure as president of Norwich University, 1950-1965.

Photographs, photograph albums and scrapbooks (Boxes 19-21) document some of his wartime experiences, particularly between 1942 and 1948. Memoirs, certificates, commissions, and biographical articles are the only other records in the collection that are related to General Harmon’s military career.

Both Harmon’s activities as university president and his interactions with the university community, including faculty/staff, alumni, various departments, and the board of trustees, are documented in the collection. An alphabetical content listing of files contains additional information.

When searching for information on specific campus buildings it may be helpful to look at files for both “Buildings and grounds” and “Fund raising.” Likewise, if searching for faculty/staff correspondence, it may be useful to check files under both “Faculty/staff” and under “Correspondence.”
