ROBERT WATSON—keyboards —a Surfari since1993 Rob was a composer/pianist prodigy at age 6. He pursued an eclectic course, playing in rock bands and classical ensembles. In the late ‘80's-early ‘90's he was the keyboardist, session producer, music director or sideman for such artists as Donna Summer, The Platters and Daniel Amos. He also worked with Paul Johnson, which led to his joining the Surfaris. Rob's lifelong goal to excel as a film composer was realized in the mid-‘90's; his credits include the films Pokemon 2000, Pokemon III, Vicious Circle and others, plus the A&E biography The Unknown Jesus and several film festival short subjects. He has conducted or orchestrated segments of Star Trek Voyager, The Simpsons and Star Trek Enterprise. He currently composes and edits music for ’s hit cartoon series, Catscratch... JAY TRUAX—bass —a Surfari from 1982-‘84 and again since 1995 Jay played surf guitar with his first band, the Nomads, then moved on to play bass. He later compiled an impressive resume playing with these major bands and artists: Spirit of Creation (’67–’69) was the #1 band in Salt Lake City, Utah, opening for such major acts as the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Janis, Credence, etc. In the early ‘70s, Jay co-founded the seminal Christian rock band, Love Song, the most important early band of that genre. From ’75–’77 Jay played with Richie Furay (as you can hear on the album, I’ve got a Reason.) In ’78–’79 Jay toured the world with fellow Love Song veteran Chuck Girard. In 1980, he returned to surf by joining Paul Johnson’s Packards. Jay’s first stint with the Surfaris followed (mostly playing rhythm guitar). From ‘85-’93 he freelanced with various rock & blues bands, then played surf with the Reef Riders until he rejoined the Surfaris for good in ’95. Jay is single and lives on Balboa Island CA

DAVID RAVEN—drums and vocals —a Surfari since 1996 Dave has worked primarily as a studio drummer in LA. He has recorded or performed with: Norah Jones, Keith Richards, John Doe, Steve Earl, Matt Redman, Crystal Lewis, Jewel, Michelle Shocked, Peter Case, Kim Wilson, Vonda Shepherd, Robben Ford, Ricky Martin, Bobby Womack, Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Dread Zeppelin, Paula Cole, Delaney Bramlett, Greg Ginn (Black Flag), Nancy Sinatra, Amy Grant, T Bone Burnett, Tonio K, Carlene Carter, Beth Hart, Carole King, Lucinda Williams, The Mutaytor, Mojo Monkeys, etc. Dave’s songs (and singing) have been featured in One Tree Hill, Angel, Felicity, Chronicle, Alias, and Senior Year; he has composed music for many TV shows, and co-composed a drum ensemble piece for the burning of the man ceremony at the Burning Man art festival, 2003. He performed on the soundtracks of feature films Brokeback Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean—Curse of the Black Pearl, Hurly Burly, Everlasting Piece, and Never Been Thawed.
