Doing Sukhmani Sahib Paath at Home? Doing Sukhmani Sahib Paath at home? The following is a list of items you will need in your home: 1. Gutkas – it’s nice to have extras for those who do not have their own. Also, there are a few apps that carry the Sukhmani Sahib in Gurmukhi, English and/or both. People can download iGurudwara app and read along through the App. 2. Normally each person can alternate (take turns) to lead the reading of a verse of the Sukhmani Sahib, while the group follows with the next line. The entire Sukhmani Sahib is read easily this way plus each person will have a chance to read verses without putting a burden on just one person. 3. Rumals (head coverings for men) 4. Parshad (must be made while wearing head covering and reciting paath or Vahe Guru, Vahe Guru) 5. Napkins in prayer room 6. Thali, steel bowl, kirpan for the blessing of the Guru ka langar 7. Buy or borrow large white sheets to lay down on your carpet where people will sit during the paath This type of paath is the reading of a specific prayer and not the entire a reading of the Guru Granth Sahib (which occurs at an Akand Paath or Sahej Paath), therefore it does not require a formal altar of any of the items and processes that goes with constructing an altar and housing the Granth Sahib. For the Sukmani Sahib each person will be holding their individual gotkhas and reading from them. Once the recitation is complete and the ardaas has been done, the congregation can gather and enjoy langar that has been prepared prior to the paath. For more information you can always contact the Gurudwara supervisor on details available in the contact us section. .

This is written in simple Punjabi language with mixture of Hindi words which were in circulation at that time among spiritual seekers. This is called "sant bhasha" or the lingua franca of the saints of Northern India. It has words from Punjabi, Sindhi in the West to Bengali in the East. Since the saints moved freely from place to place, they had developed a language of their own called "sant bhasha". The time of composition is 1601-1602 AD at Sri Amritsar where Gurdwara Ram Sar is located. This composition is divided into 24 "Ashtpadis" or groups of eight stanzas. Each stanza is having 10 lines. Before each ashtpadi, there is a "sloka" which gives the gist of the next eight stanzas. In the first ashtpadi, after the first stanza, Guru Arjan Dev has given two lines with "Rahau" mark at their end. This word 'rahau' means "pause here and think" i.e.

Lekh 18 Dharam Parchaar The flowering plant grows according to the law of nature. When it begins to flower the first thing that appears is a small bud. The bud grows and on full growth it opens its petals and blossoms as a complete flower. From the flower’s fragrance delicateness beauty youthfulness freshness bloom life-current juice colour God’s True beauty Residence (presence) in nature Law is fully expressed. From the example of the flower above, knowledge of the following laws of nature become apparent. 1. For the full expression of the life of a plant from seed to the flowering plant, principles and time are necessary. 2. As per the law of nature, the plant receives a life –current from ‘Mother Earth’ and its growth throughout L18.1 1 is being continuously taken care of. However whenever we interfere with its growth to maturity due to our stubborn ego, we disturb its natural growth. For example, if we break the bud before it can flower, then we lose out on the fragrance of the flower and its many other beautiful qualities/virtues. 3. To purposely or innocently obstruct the flow or law of nature, to interfere with the Divine law is (a form of) cruelty, a sin. This example also applies to human beings For the growth, expression and manifestation of the spiritual life of man, time is necessary. The exact moment is not predetermined as spiritual discipleship is the play of the blessing and grace of the Satguru. 1 Such is the karma of those upon whom He has cast His Glance of Grace.

  • In Simran 'Attention' Has Special Importance -Hence, It Is Necessary to Discuss It in Detail
gurbwnI ivcwr GURBANI CONTEMPLATION 114 ਸਿਮਰਨੁ SIMRAN ਏ ਮਨ! ਹਸਰ ਜੀ ਸਿਆਇ ਤੂ; ਇਕ ਮਸਨ ਇਕ ਸਿਸਤ ਭਾਇ O my soul, lovingly remember Thou, Beloved Lord single-mindedly and with rapt attention PART – 5 ‘KHOJI’ SIMRAN (WORD CONTEMPLATION) Part-5 In Simran 'attention' has special importance -hence, it is necessary to discuss it in detail. When we pay attention to something or an object, our mind relates to it or has communion with it and there is some give and take of its good and bad influence. If we are not interested in an object or something, we are unable to pay deep attention to it and it has a superficial influence on us. 1n other words there is no communion, Sangat, or sharing, and there is no give and take. This can be further explained through some examples. 1n the homes there is Kirtan or Paath going on by radio or through tape recording, but the family members are more often involved in their domestic chores or absorbed in their conversations. In the same way when we ourselves do Simran or Paath, our consciousness is involved in ‘various other thoughts’, due to which we do not pay attention to Gurbani. The general Sangat has the same complaint i.e. the mind doesn't stay still in ‘Simran’. When our consciousness or attention is not in Gurbani or Simran, we are not participating in the Sangat of Gurbani. Due to this, we are unable to be in communion with the innate, spiritual, sentiments of Gurbani. In this way, we are not in the Sangat of the high, pure and Divine Gurbani and as a result we are deprived of the philosopher’s- stone effect of it.
