In April Claire Danes has confirmed that Season 8 will be the last, and Showtime officially confirmed the final season in August. In April 2018, showrunner Alex Gansa announced his plans for the final season: Season 8 will be somewhere abroad. We get to play history with the big national stakes in season 7, and we'll get back to a lesser scouting-based season at 8. He also said: We're going to start over in Season 8 and probably make a pretty big time jump between 7 and 8 and put any parallels of Trump behind us and we'll tell a very contained story, hopefully in Israel. In January 2019, it was confirmed that the final season will be held in Afghanistan, shooting will begin in February in Morocco. The season was originally scheduled to debut in June 2019, but it was postponed until the end of 2019 due to the production requirements of our international locations, according to Showtime co-president Gary Levin. In August 2019, Showtime again postponed the premiere until February 2020; Levin said: Homeland is an ambitious series - especially in its latest season. I don't keep it. Alex (Hansa) wants to come out with pride and this is due to production in several countries at times and in places that have some problems. It just takes time. He added: There were no mistakes. It was a relatively smooth process. But it's a very ambitious production schedule, and it took longer than we expected. Receiving early reviews for the eighth season were generally positive. On Rotten Tomatoes, the season has an 85% approval rating based on 25 reviews, with an average rating of 7.27/10. Critical of the site's consensus, Homeland returns to form with a tautly thrilling final season that fittingly ends the work Carrie Mathison started all those years ago. At Metacritic, the season has a score of 71 out of 100 based on 10 critics, showing generally favorable reviews. Robert Roark of the New York Post wrote: The first three episodes are a bit awkward, with Carrie's familiar model alienated by almost everyone she meets, kicking again - and then comes Episode 4, and Homeland finds its groove. IndieWire's Ben Travers praised him for B and praised the performances of Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin, as well as directed by Leslie Linda Glatter for for her beautifully staged and tensely abbreviated action sequences. I use the poetry of Urayoán Noel, Juan Gelman, and Yolanda Castaño to demonstrate that they each uniquely use the process of self- translation, in conjunction with a bilingual presentation, to articulate their modern, hybrid identities. In addition, I argue that as a result, the act of self-translation establishes an interliminal space of enunciation that not only reflects an intercultural exchange consistent with hybridity, but fosters further cultural and linguistic interaction.

A HOMELAND landscape and people It is late winter and the temperature is minus 40 degrees Celsius. The sea is frozen over for a mile from the shore. Far out on the ice a solitary hunter inches forwards towards a seal which has come up for air through a hole in the ice and is resting on the surface. In front of him he pushes a rifle hidden behind a white screen of canvas. There is no sign that there is anyone hidden behind the screen, except for a small cloud of condensation above him as he breathes. If he is skilful and lucky, the seal will not notice him until it is too late. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away inland, three reindeer herders wait on a windswept hilltop, scanning the surrounding mountains with binoculars. In the distance, they see two other herders riding reindeer and weaving their way through the thin larch trees which seem drawn with black ink against the snow on the ground. They have found part of the herd and are driving it toward the waiting men. At last, the sound of men whistling and deer grunting can be heard. The first reindeer filter through the Figure 1 Kyrnysh-Di forest island near surrounding trees, the camouflage of their fur blending closely with the Kolva-Vis river, Nenets Autonomous snow and the tress’ rough, grey-brown bark. Suddenly, the waiting men District.Photo taken by Joachim Otto Habeck, May 1999 burst into action with their lassos, separating some deer and bunching others in order to drive them off later to different pastures.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AS THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF CONTENT HAVE INCREASED in what is widely regarded as television’s second Golden Age, so have employment opportunities for the talented men and women who create that programming. And as our industry, and the content we produce, have become more relevant, so has the relevance of the Television Academy increased as an essential resource for television professionals. In 2015, this was reflected in the steady rise in our membership — surpassing 20,000 for the first time in our history — as well as the expanding slate of Academy-sponsored activities and the heightened attention paid to such high-profile events as the Television Academy Honors and, of course, the Creative Arts Awards and the Emmy Awards. Navigating an industry in the midst of such profound change is both exciting and, at times, a bit daunting. Reimagined models of production and distribution — along with technological innovations and the emergence of new over-the-top platforms — have led to a seemingly endless surge of creativity, and an array of viewing options. As the leading membership organization for television professionals and home to the industry’s most prestigious award, the Academy is committed to remaining at the vanguard of all aspects of television. Toward that end, we are always evaluating our own practices in order to stay ahead of industry changes, and we are proud to guide the conversation for television’s future generations.

  • Defining Homeland Security: Analysis and Congressional Considerations
Defining Homeland Security: Analysis and Congressional Considerations Updated January 8, 2013 Congressional Research Service https://crsreports.congress.gov R42462 Defining Homeland Security: Analysis and Congressional Considerations Summary Ten years after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the U.S. government does not have a single definition for “homeland security.” Currently, different strategic documents and mission statements offer varying missions that are derived from different homeland security definitions. Historically, the strategic documents framing national homeland security policy have included national strategies produced by the White House and documents developed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Prior to the 2010 National Security Strategy, the 2002 and 2007 National Strategies for Homeland Security were the guiding documents produced by the White House. In 2011, the White House issued the National Strategy for Counterterrorism. In conjunction with these White House strategies, DHS has developed a series of evolving strategic documents that are based on the two national homeland security strategies and include the 2008 Strategic Plan—One Team, One Mission, Securing the Homeland; the 2010 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review and Bottom-Up Review; and the 2012 Department of Homeland Security Strategic Plan. The 2012 DHS strategic plan is the latest evolution in DHS’s process of defining its mission, goals, and responsibilities. This plan, however, only addresses the department’s homeland security purview and is not a document that addresses homeland security missions and responsibilities that are shared across the federal government. Currently, the Department of Homeland Security is developing the 2014 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, which is due late 2013 or early 2014.

  • FEMA Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans
Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101 Version 2.0 November 2010 I am pleased to announce the release of Version 2.0 of Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101: Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans. Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101 provides guidance for developing emergency operations plans. It promotes a common understanding of the fundamentals of risk-informed planning and decision making to help planners examine a hazard or threat and produce integrated, coordinated, and synchronized plans. The goal of CPG 101 is to assist in making the planning process routine across all phases of emergency management and for all homeland security mission areas. This Guide helps planners at all levels of government in their efforts to develop and maintain viable, all-hazards, all-threats emergency plans. Based on input from state, territorial, tribal, and local officials from across the United States, this update of CPG 101 expands on the fundamentals contained in the first version. With this edition, greater emphasis is placed on representing and engaging the whole community—to include those with access and functional needs, children, and those with household pets and service animals. Residents and all sectors of the community have a critical role and shared responsibility to take appropriate actions to protect themselves, their families and organizations, and their properties. Planning that engages and includes the whole community serves as the focal point for building a collaborative and resilient community. CPG 101 is the foundation for state, territorial, tribal, and local emergency planning in the United States. Planners in other disciplines, organizations, and the private sector, as well as other levels of government, may find this Guide useful in the development of their emergency operations plans.
