National VFW approves “Rider Group” for VFW 5864

Rider Group Approved – The National VFW has recently approved a “Rider (motorcycle) Group” for Greenwood VFW Post 5864. Rodney Davis, a VFW member of the Post and a member of a nearby Legion Rider Group headed the committee to get things underway. He was helped by Mark Quinn. Both are members of the Legion Riders at another local veteran’s club. VFW members, Auxiliary members and friends and supporters of veterans are eligible to join the group. The goal is to bring in men and women from American Legion Post 1919; from Voiture 145 of the 40 and 8 organization and the VFW Auxiliary as members of the group. Those three groups are houses at VFW Post 5864. You will not have to have a motorcycle to be a member of this group. Poker Runs and other events will be scheduled to earn money for various projects and individual groups. The group has obtained two sets of by-laws from two different VFW Rider Groups to review and come up with a set of usable by-laws for the group. Rodney Davis has ordered a VFW Rider’s patch for himself, a VFW Auxiliary Rider’s patch for his wife and a VFW Supporter’s patch. Anyone can order a patch and they are all pretty much the same. The Auxiliary has their logo; and the supporter is the same as the VFW with a line that says “Supporter”. They are $56 each. If you are truly interested in joining this group, con- tact Rodney Davis at [email protected] or call Steve Milbourn at (317) 525-7291 or e-mail him at [email protected].
