How To: Look Up a Bill Online

1. Visit the Indiana General Assembly website: www.iga.in.gov. 2. On the top row, select Legislation. 3. Choose the subcategory under Legislation that best fits your search from the following: a. Bills: Select if you know the bill number or a keyword. This is also a full list of all filed bills. Once you choose a bill, the option to view the Latest Fiscal Note is available as a PDF in the left column. This is a good option if you are looking for short summaries of what the bill would do and how it would affect Indiana fiscally. b. Resolutions: Select to see all joint, concurrent and simple resolutions from the current year’s legislative session. c. By Legislator: Select if you are looking for a bill authored or co-authored by a specific legislator. Names are listed by district or alphabetically. d. By Subject: Select to search by subject alphabetically. Example: Aircraft, Bankruptcy or Cell Phones. 4. Committees: To see what bills are being heard by a specific committee, click on the Committees tab in the top row and select either Standing or Conference, depending on which you are interested in. 5. Archives: To see a list of bills from previous sessions, under the Information tab at the top of the page under Archives, click on Session. This will take you to a new page where you can choose the year you would like to view and if you would like to see House or Senate bills by a specific legislator.
