GAME 1 (San Jose 5, Colorado 2 at SAP Center) Brent Burns tallied a goal and three assists and the Sharks went on to take Game 1 of their best-of-seven series with the Avalanche by a 5-2 final at SAP Center. Gabriel Bourque and Colin Wilson had the goals for Colorado.

GAME 2 (Colorado 4, San Jose 3 at SAP Center) Tyson Barrie had a goal and two assists to help the Avalanche win 4-3 and even their first round series with the Sharks at a game apiece. Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon added a goal and an assist each, and Philipp Grubauer made 31 saves. Matt Nieto also lit the lamp for Colorado and Matt Calvert chipped in with two helpers. MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen both extended their point streaks to six games.

TIED 1-1, SERIES SHIFTS TO DENVER FOR GAME 3 Tied at one game apiece, the series now shifts to Denver where the Avalanche hosts the San Jose Sharks in Game 3 tonight at Pepsi Center. San Jose won the series opener 5-2 on Friday and Colorado won Game 2 by a 4-3 final on Sunday. The Avs, who defeated Calgary in five games during the opening round, have advanced to the second round of the postseason for the first time since 2008. The Avs are 5-2 this postseason and 13-3-2 in their last 18 contests (.778) dating back to March 17. After dropping the first- round series opener in Calgary, the Avs bounced back to win the final four games of that series, the first time Colorado won four straight playoff games since 2001. The Avs are making back-to-back appearances in the playoffs for the first time since earning 11 straight trips from 1994-95 to 2005-06.

HOME SWEET HOME The Avs are 2-0 at home this postseason and have won eight consecutive home games dating back to March 17 of the regular season. Colorado is 13-2-1 (.844) in its last 16 at Pepsi Center dating back to Feb. 18. The Avalanche, Hurricanes (3-0) and Blue Jackets (2-0) are the only teams without a home loss so far in the 2019 playoffs.

STREAKING Nathan MacKinnon (4g/7a) and Mikko Rantanen (5g/6a) each have current six-game point streaks, the first Avalanche players to tally points in six straight playoff contests since Peter Forsberg (seven games) and Joe Sakic (six) did it to open the 2004 postseason. The six-game runs are tied for the longest in this year's playoffs, as Artemi Panarin also has a current six-game streak. MacKinnon has picked up assists in his last five outings (7a), the longest assist streak in these playoffs and the longest by a Colorado skater since Forsberg had a five-game run in 2002-03. Rantanen notched two or more points in four straight contests from April 13-19, the first Avalanche player to tally four straight multi-point games in the postseason since Forsberg (five games) and Sakic (four) in 2002.

BARRIE NICE Tyson Barrie leads the Avs defense with eight points (1g/7a) in seven games this postseason. He picked up his second three-point effort of these playoffs in Game 2 at San Jose on Sunday, joining Sandis Ozolinsh (twice: 1997 and 1998) and Rob Blake (2001) as the only Colorado defenders to have two three-point games in a single postseason. Barrie's eight points are already the most by an Avalanche defenseman in one playoff year since Greg deVries (13) and Blake (12) in 2002.

AVS & SHARKS The Avalanche and Sharks are meeting in the postseason for the fifth time, having previously done so in 1999 (CQF), 2002 (CSF), 2004 (CSF) & 2010 (CQF). Colorado is 2-2 in those four series. The only other opponent that has faced the Avalanche more often in the playoffs is the Detroit Red Wings, who have battled the Avs six times. San Jose won all three matchups during the regular season.

ALL-TIME RECORD All-Time: 46-38-12 H: 27-14-6 A: 19-24-6 Since '95-96: 41-36-12 H: 24-14-6 A: 17-22-6

PLAYOFF TIME The Avs are competing in their 33rd playoff series since relocating from Quebec in 1995-96. Colorado has gone 20-12 in the previous 32. Overall, this is the 42nd best-of-seven playoff series in franchise history (23-18 record). The Nordiques/Avalanche own a 142-127 all-time record in 269 playoff games, which includes a 107-82 mark in 189 contests since moving to Denver. The Avalanche's 107 postseason wins since relocating trail only Detroit (145) and Pittsburgh (132).

TRENDS The Avs and Sharks both look to take a 2-1 series lead tonight. The Avalanche/Nordiques are 13-7 all-time in best-of-seven playoff series when taking a 2-1 series lead, 12-5 since moving to Denver. The Avs, who fell to San Jose in Game 1 on Friday, also dropped their series opener to Calgary in the first round yet rallied to win the series in five games. The Avalanche/Nordiques are 7-8 in playoff series when dropping the first game of a best-of-seven, 5-7 since moving to Denver. Colorado/Quebec is 8-10 all-time in playoff series when splitting the first two games of a best-of-seven series, 7-7 since moving to Denver.

POSTSEASON PRODUCTION Nathan MacKinnon has 27 points (9g/18a) in 20 career playoff games, the highest points-per-game average (1.35) among active players. In fact, it's the fifth highest in Stanley Cup Playoff history among players with at least 10 points.

2.08 Newsy Lalonde 1.84 Wayne Gretzky 1.61 Mario Lemieux 1.53 Barry Pederson 1.35 Nathan MacKinnon 1.25 Mark Messier 1.24 Bobby Orr 1.24 Mike Bossy

THAT'S THE POWER OF LOVE After starting 0-for-8 with the man advantage in the first two games of the playoffs, Colorado's power-play unit has gone 6-for-22 (27.3%) over the last five contests. Nathan MacKinnon leads all NHL players with six power-play points (2g/4a), while Tyson Barrie is tied for first among all defensemen with four (0g/4a).

GIVE IT A SHOT Colorado is averaging 37.9 shots-per-game this postseason, tops in the NHL. They were the only club to average over 40 shots a night (41.0) during the opening round. The Avalanche produced over 50 shots in both Game 3 (56) and Game 4 (52) of their first-round series against the Flames, the first time Colorado has ever recorded 50+ shots in back-to-back playoff contests. Colorado's 56 shots in Game 3 equaled its second-most in franchise playoff history, one shy of the record set in Game 4 of the 1996 CSF at Chicago (May 8, 1996). It was Colorado's most shots ever in a 60-minute playoff game and the most by an NHL team in a non-overtime finish since the put up 61 in a victory over Pittsburgh in the 1996 ECF (May 24, 1996). Colorado’s 21 shots in the first period that night matched the franchise record for a playoff period.

LET'S GRUUB TONIGHT Philipp Grubauer is 5-2 this postseason with a .924 save percentage and 2.35 goals-against average. He was 4-1 with a 1.895 GAA and .939 Sv% during the first round against Calgary, finishing second in GAA and third in Sv% during the opening round. Grubauer won his final four starts of the series, the longest win streak by an Avalanche goalie in a single postseason since Patrick Roy won four straight to open the 2001 playoffs (April 12-18, 2001). Dating back to March 17, Grubauer is 12-2-2 over his last 16 starts with a 1.95 GAA and .941 Sv%.

HISTORIC DEBUT Seventy two hours after winning the Hobey Baker Award and 48 hours after playing in the NCAA championship game, Cale Makar scored his first NHL goal on his first shot in the opening period of Colorado's Game 3 victory against Calgary on April 15. Makar became the first defenseman in NHL history to score his first career goal while making his NHL debut in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Overall, he was the seventh player in history to make his League debut in the playoffs and score and the first Avalanche or Nordiques skater to do so.

SHORT STORY Matt Nieto leads all NHL players with two shorthanded goals, tying the franchise record for a single playoff year. He scored a shortie in two straight games, April 13-15, joining Andre Savard (1984 DSF vs. Buffalo) as the only players in franchise playoff history to score a SHG in back-to-back contests. Nieto was the first NHL player to tally a shortie in back-to-back playoff contests since Max Talbot with Philadelphia in Game 2 & 3 of the 2012 CQF vs Pittsburgh. As a team, the Avalanche's two shorthanded goals this spring matches a franchise record for a single postseason.

POSTSEASON EXPERIENCE The Avalanche's roster features a combined 555 games of playoff experience, led by Derick Brassard (94), Ian Cole (69) and Colin Wilson (60). Cole is a two-time Stanley Cup champion (2016, 2017 with Pittsburgh), while Philipp Grubauer won the Stanley Cup with Washington last year.

PLAYOFF OVERTIME Colorado is 2-0 in overtime this postseason, tied with Carolina and San Jose for the most OT wins. The Avalanche/Nordiques are 39- 29 all-time in playoff overtime, 29-20 since moving to Denver. Four current Avalanche players have scored a playoff OT winner.

His eight game assist streak from 12/7-12/22 was one shy of the Sharks franchise record of nine. - Lukas Radil scored his first career NHL goal 12/8 at ARI, which stood as the GWG in a 5-3 win. The following game, Radim Simek scored his first career NHL goal 12/10 vs NJD, which also stood as the GWG. The two goals were just the ninth time in NHL history that two players scored their first career goal and have it stand as the GWG in consecutive games.
