With this being the first edition in 2010, we take this opportunity to officially welcome you back to the office and hope that you are refreshed and rejuvenated to make this year the greatest in building and sustaining international relations and coop- eration throughout Africa and the world.

As it is now a well-known fact, the year 2010 is synonymous with the biggest sport- ing spectacle our continent has ever seen, the SA 2010 FIFA World CupTM. The old building used to be owned by the Department of Public Works and when there were maintenance faults, the turnaround time was too long to fix the problem. When the DIRCO building team was planning the new look of the new building, the diplomatic guesthouse was included in the plans.
