LOCAL HISTORY & GENEALOGY 115 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14604 ● 585-428-8370 ● Fax 585-428-8353 Local Civil War Regimental Histories Research Guide This guide is intended to assist those patrons researching Civil War regiments and companies formed locally. Every effort was made to include resources pertaining specifically to Monroe County and the surrounding areas. As this wasn’t always possible, however, some of the items listed below refer to broader regimental histories in which local companies served. For information on researching individual soldiers, see the “Civil War Soldiers” guide. (Letters in parentheses after the regiment number refer to the companies that were formed locally.) Key: LH = Local History Division (these materials do not circulate and must remain in the division) LH-OS = Located in stacks and must be retrieved by staff Please note: The Science & History Division may also hold some of the titles below and are available for checkout.
