May Bugle 2017.Spub MYC Pirates WIN! Volume 34 Blast 4 www.marinyachtclub.com May 2017 As summer starts, we will soon see the harbor and canal filled with the sailing students of SEA. SEA and the Three Star Comments MYC have combined in this program for 35 years. They attend 2 week camps ending June 30, July 21, August 4 and 18. Take a break and come to the graduations on those dates. It is fun to see and hear the kids and talk with the parents. If you have kids or grandkids between 10 and 16, the MYC has some scholarships to attend the camps. Contact the office or Bill Minahen. Summer is here! Summer is here, let’s get on the water. April 23 was opening day on the Bay. Marin Yacht Club Chuck Stuckey, Commodore was the proud sponsor of the winning overall decorated boat award. Again this year, Vice Commodore Donna and Staff Commodore Jim Purvis donated their boat, Sans Souci, which was decorated to the style of the “Roaring 20’s.” Master craftsmen Jim Purvis, Jack Going, and Russ Hamel, helped by others, built the displays and over 20 members and friends, dressed in 20’s costumes performed as the boat transited the city front. The top of the performance was Tiger Lyn, singing “All that Jazz” to the judging committee. April 29 was “Work Day.” Around 40 members pounced on the mess of the landscaping, decorating the upper bar, and organizing the boxes of “stuff” used for parties over the BREAKING NEWS !! years. Clive Endress brought a bunch of plants, tools and his landscaping skills to upgrade the entrance to the Club. Members of the Rec committee cleaned up the tennis courts and the pool area. Staff Commodore Bruce Fairey led the cleanup crew along the shore and behind the clubhouse. RESULTS— The Great Vallejo Race The Donnas (Eng and Purvis) led the project to empty the Regatta May 6th and 7th container of entertainment supplies, repackage them and then stock the container in an organized manner.
